And sometimes I look back at my old writing and am amazed at how far I’ve come…and also I think about my writing dreams! And how hard I have to work to get there…sometimes I show my stuff to others for reviews and validation as well, haha…keep at it, girl! Hope you feel encouraged…

@writerlexi1216 WHAT? My girl Lexi is feeling down? Nope! I will not stand for this! No doubt my predecessors have considerably lightened your mood, but I just want to let you know that you are most certainly not alone. Not by a long shot. We all feel self-conscious or just plain horrible about our writing. Trust me. I’m in that place all the time.
But it’s okay! There’s always room for improvement, yes, but there’s also beauty in everything that you write! I honestly think that your story is, like, the coolest ever, and I am SO in love with your characters already, and I would TOTALLY love to read your book!
You are in my prayers, girl! We all love you on here! <3

Aww, girl, I relate SO hard right now. I have asked the same thing SO many times: is my writing good enough? You’re definitely not the only one going through this.
Some things that I find really help me are just writing about my frustration. Or just giving myself the luxury of taking a few minutes to write about whatever I want. In the end I come back to my WIPs with inspiration and motivation. You will not always be inspired, but with a lot of praying God will push you through it. I say to myself so often, “Why is this so hard?” and the answer immediately comes, “Everything worth it is always hard. If something is easy, it’s not worth it.” I mean, if writing books was easy everyone would be publishing books. But it’s not easy, and we writers have the courage and faith to actually write, as you are doing. We’re not one of those casual people who are like, “I’ve always wanted to write a book,” but they don’t really want it, because they aren’t willing to do any of the work. They’re not passionate. You are, and that’s an incredible and rare gift. It means you’re truly talented, unlike everyone else. Remember that when you feel down.
Also, one thing I’ve found really helps is to just WRITE in my WIP when I’m stuck, without caring that it’s bad. Making a book good is what editing is for. If you never write that first draft where you just get the story out, you will never progress because you’ll always be stuck on each word. What really matters is the heart of the story, and after you have that everything else will fall into place. With God’s help, of course, always.
I hope this encouraged you, and I would love to beta read for you if ever you wanted me to!

GRACIE, thank you!!! You have no idea how big I was smiling when I read that 🙂 That’s such a relief to know that I’m not alone, because I guess I get so wrapped up in thinking that I’m the only writer who feels this way. But that really helped me to know that it’s completely normal.
And oh my gosh, that’s so sweet!! I’m honestly so happy that you like it! It really makes me feel a whole lot better on the inside. And I’d totally love for you to read my book! I do feel like the middle is better than the beginning, though ^-^

Girl, this means so much to me!!! Just reading that made me feel a lot better on the inside <3 And you helped me to change my perspective about feeling down, too! I never thought of it that way, that even though writing is hard, it shows talent and courage. That made me feel so much better! I’ll definitely keep that in mind every time I’m feeling down 🙂
And writing when I’m stuck is something I’m trying to do soo much. And I’ve found that not editing during the first draft really helps me, so thank you! I’d love for you to beta read someday! That would be really fun 😉

@writerlexi1216 Oh no! I’m very sad to hear you feel this way. I know I’ve definitely been there before, though. (I am there right now, lol) I never know whether my writing is good or not, I do aim to be published but often I’ll think my writing isn’t good enough and people aren’t going to like it and I will never be published. I think “what if my ideas are bad?” all the time. But I still write. Like Yoko Ono once said, “You may think I’m small, but I have a universe inside my head.” And as writers we need to get those universes out of our own heads and onto paper and into other people’s heads! So I’m not saying ignore your self-doubt, oh no I’d be the biggest hypocrite on earth if that’s what I was saying XD. I’m trying to figure out how to word this here, maybe, just keep pushing on ahead. I’m sure you’re a fantastic writer!!! I promise that I’ll be praying for you and your writing too.
