Okay, so that wasn’t a very smart title. But I really am.
Aaaaaand I welcome myself to the very bestistest place on the internet. There, I beat all of you to it. π
I’ve been following this place ever since the forum was created, and Kate joined—last April, I believe! And I know all you guys, even though only a couple of you do me. So yeah, you all know Kate, one of the most famousest people on this place, and the only one (yet) to be honored with the title of Kingdom Pen superhero. And…I’m one of her sisters—the one who comes directly after her in the family. I’m fifteen years old, and I’m not a writer. Scandalous, I know. Well, not properly a writer; I do essays and stuff, but not books. I used to write books, 5 or 6 years ago—a couple Viking Quest rip-offs, some incredibly bad attempts at fantasy, and a couple real life ones, you know the kind where the protagonist gets lost, and finds bunnies, and names them cute unoriginal names and all that. π But I promise you I can live up to the craziest of you on here.So if I’m not a writer, what on earth am I doing on here? Well, I LOOOOOOOVE a good story, and I have the supremely honorable position of full-time beta reader for Kate. And it’s awfully fun, I tell you. I get lots of trivia!!
So I know everything about you kind of people, and about good stories, and how they work, and all that. Thanks to Kate. Now I can’t read a book or watch a movie or read a book without analyzing it, but I’m glad cuz it’s too much fun. I can’t even tell you how much I love dynamic character relationships, and characters. Good plots aren’t bad either. π And themes!! But I know y’all understand about loving those things.
But, I’m not even going to say I’ll try to post regularly, cuz I won’t. I only got myself an account (thanks, @rolena-hatfield π ) so if I really needed to say something (which I haven’t till yesterday!), I wouldn’t have to hijack Kate’s account again. I’m still going to follow this forum as I always have, but I won’t be posting often. I don’t really have time, and besides, Mom can’t lose TWO of her kids to hyberspace! Right Mom? But since I have an account, I figured I’d say hi. Hi!This terribly long post will be done in a moment, but a few things for the curious ones.
I love music, and play the piano and violin.
I love reading and watching movies, and Tolkien and period dramas. And Kate’s books. And discussing stories. And discussions in general. I’m also currently almost done reading Dreamlander, because Kate said I had to. I did want to, though. πMy favorite colors are green, brown, dark and deep blue, dark burgundy, and silver.
And I love humor, and incredible dialogue in stories.
And I’m sure I forgot something I wanted to say, but this is long enough for now. Emma Flournoy, at your service!
( I don’t want your service, thank you, though I expect you need mine. ) Anyone know where that’s from?! Besides you, Kate. π You can if no one else does.May 28, 2016 at 10:41 am #13352Hi @Emma-Flournoy… please tell me you aren’t going to make it your mission on this forum to brag on me… π π
And let me just add something to her post that she forgot to mention— she is a supremely high quality beta-reader. I am so blessed to have her.
Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome my crazy little sister, Emma Flournoy!
May 28, 2016 at 11:08 am #13353*claps and cheers* welcome! Welcome! And once again welcome! @emma-flournoy I have a feeling you and I will get along just fine ? I primarily write book reviews because I love to analyze books so I don’t write short stories or things of that nature as much as I’d like to (I’m really awful at coming up with stories) but that’s enough about me, what about you? What are some of your favorite books?
Theater kid. Currently depressed because I can't stop listening to sad musicals.
May 28, 2016 at 12:05 pm #13362…and besides, Mom canβt lose TWO of her kids to hyberspace!
Whoops, I think that was supposed to be cyberspace. π
Well @kate-flournoy, so what if it is? You know I tell the truth, don’t you?
Hi @christi-eaton! Some of my favorites are The Lord of the Rings (duh, obviously—have you read those?), North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell, A Tale of Two Cities by Dickens, The Count of Monte Cristo, by A. Dumas…do you recognize those? π Kate and I have similar tastes. And if I’m to believe Kate, Dreamlander by K.M. Weiland will soon be one of my favorites as well. How ’bout you?
Also Rolf and the Viking Bow by Allen French. Some things I meant to say in my first post—I love God more than anything and honestly cannot imagine life without Him; if you’re appalled that didn’t make my first post, forgive me on the grounds that this is a site for Christian teens…it kinda goes without saying. π
I love people, and how everyone has their own unique personality.
Headaches have an annoying addiction to being my constant companion.
I’m extremely nitpicky about the writing style of things I read, and I hate overused phrases and sentence structures. But I try not to let those thing affect my liking of the other aspects of the book. π And a huge kudos to the author whose style I like—for some reason it’s mostly the modern ones I have a problem with. Sorry, Christopher Paolini.
I love forests, plants and flowers, and especially woods with the sunlight coming down and shining behind the leaves. And pleasant windy 65 degree weather.
Aaaaaaand Kate and I have a reputation for cracking people up, so if you’re fragile, stay away. π
By the way @Daeus. Did you ever finish Our Mutual Friend? Were you satisfied with Boffin?
And as I’m sure everyone could gather, I love reading or skimming through the discussion you people have on here—reading or skimming depending on how the topic interests me. Most of them I read. π

May 28, 2016 at 12:12 pm #13364*huff* NO. That’s not my primary goal.
Oh, and one more thing—I cry extremely easily over sad stories. But that does NOT mean I don’t like them! I love well done sad stories, and I love crying over them—it’s just I do it very easily.
May 28, 2016 at 12:32 pm #13369Oh, and one more thing.
Whatever @kate-flournoy says about my beta-reading, I am very sorry but I’m not taking any requests for beta-reading at this time. Yuck. That sounded so formal. (I did it on purpose. π )
I know y’all frequently ask each other to beta-read each others’ books, but I don’t have time for that right now. I truly am sorry. I HATE disappointing people, but that’s why I told you before you asked.
I’m not saying anyone was even going to ask!! That might have sounded nice and conceited. But just in case.π π π
May 28, 2016 at 1:04 pm #13370@emma-flournoy Oh yes! I approve of your favorite books, I’m actually reading the Count of Monte Cristo right now and when I am finished (probably in a couple months or so) I’ll write a book review on it and try to get it published on here. I’m also really picky about which books I enjoy reading. They have to be REALLY good for me to like them if they aren’t, well, usually I don’t finish them. But if I like I will hand them off to every person I know and try to get them to read it.
Theater kid. Currently depressed because I can't stop listening to sad musicals.
May 28, 2016 at 1:39 pm #13374Welcome @Emma-Flournoy! I’m awful at trying to think of what to say to people when they join. Hmm, what fantasy books do you like? Besides your sister’s works and Tolkien, that is. π What’s your favorite genre?
INTJ - Inhumane. No-feelings. Terrible. Judgment and doom on everyone.
May 28, 2016 at 2:14 pm #13380Yeeess! The Count Of Monte Cristo *runs around the room*
Oh, hi @emma-flournoy π
I haven’t finished Our Mutual Friend. It’s been slow going. Probably because Mr. Boffin isn’t in it much and isn’t as fun anymore. Look, let me just say I’m sick and tired or Roguesmith and Lisey and Riderhood and I JUST WANT MY BOFFINS! It will take a lot for me to be satisfied with Dickens, because even if the ending is spectacular, he practically cheated me out of half the book.
π’π’π’π’π’π’π’π’π’π’π’π’π’π’π’π’π’π’π’π’π’π’
May 28, 2016 at 2:44 pm #13384@christi-eaton Good! Hope you like it. But how could you know a book was good or bad till you finished it? Some are really good after the boring first half. π
Thank you @hope. π Well, my favorite genre is fantasy. What else. Favorite books within that genre— TLotR, of course; and The Hobbit. I like Narnia, though I’m not crazy over it. Come to think of it, I don’t think I’ve read a ton of fantasy…hmm…I’ve read the first book in the Eyes of Everia series (since it’s the one we have in physical form, thanks to you. π All the other ones we only have in ebook form, and I like reading physical books much better than digital ones. ), but not the other three yet. I’m currently reading Dreamlander—in ebook form, because I just had to read it immediately after Kate’s reaction to it. And if I’m to judge by that reaction, it’ll be on the favorites list by tonight—I’ve got less than 30 pages left!!
And I want to but haven’t yet read the Songkeeper chronicles. We have both books in physical form!!
Oh and I’ve read Unfinished Tales and am currently reading The Silmarillion, which I’m really enjoying. But I can’t think off the top of my head what other fantasy I’ve read and liked.
@Daeus Yes. The Count of Monte Cristo. π
You’re even sick of Lisey? How about the guy whose name I can’t remember who likes her (not Mr. Headstone. Yigg.)?
Well, hopefully you get your Boffins soon.
And hi. πMay 28, 2016 at 2:45 pm #13385@Emma-Flournoy did you mean Eugene? π
May 28, 2016 at 3:12 pm #13389Hi @Emma-Flournoy! Glad you finally made it here! (with your own identity that is π )
I look forward to your posts though infrequent they may be π
How long have you been playing violin? I love the vi! Does yours have a name? I call mine Ashani.https://rolenahatfield.com/
May 28, 2016 at 3:37 pm #13394Hi again @rolena-hatfield! I’ve been playing since March 2014, I think…and no, it doesn’t have name. π Why do you call yours that?
Yes @Kate-Flournoy, I meant Eugene. And I just finished Dreamlander and am coming to talk to you in minute. Waaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!
May 28, 2016 at 3:47 pm #13395Hey @Emma-Flournoy! I play piano and violin too (there sure are a lot of musicians on here). Have you read The Door Within trilogy?
