@morwen Hm, that’s odd. I wonder why the tag didn’t work. Sorry I’m a tad late, then!
Hi! Yep XD
Yeah.. 😅I’m working on it, I promise 😀
Kapeefer 'Till We're Old and Grey!
ENFJ-T ... I think (haven't taken the quiz in awhile)August 11, 2020 at 6:14 pm #84128Lord of the Rings is the best! I love it!
August 14, 2020 at 8:10 am #84191I was thinking of Byron or Bennett, depending on what sort of charrie he is. Byron would go for a fancier type, while Bennett is more similar to Barrett.

August 17, 2020 at 1:11 pm #84246Bennett is MUCH better than Barrett. The more I think about the name Bennett the more I like it.
Not 100% If the name will be the finale choice, (I might want a more modern sounding name), but it’s definitely an upgrade from Barrett. Thanks!
August 19, 2020 at 10:07 am #84333@morwen Welcome to KP! Homeschoolers who are obsessed with LOTR should basically be one of our names on here lol. I’ve been here for a while but have also been inactive most of that time.
You’re going to find a lot of MBTI enthusiasts here, my sister ( @aliaetter ) and I included.
Do you have a current project you’re working on writing-wise (I didn’t see you answer this yet but I may have missed it and if so I’m sorry for asking again lol)?
What’s your preferred genre to read and/or write in? I’m guessing fantasy from all the LOTR comments.
A Very Tookish Hobbit (a.k.a. Fool of a Took)
August 19, 2020 at 10:54 am #84335I do have two projects I’m currently working on. One is a dystopian about triplets with powers and the other is a darkish?? fantasy about redemption.
My favorite genre to read and write in is, yes you guessed it, fantasy.

August 19, 2020 at 10:55 am #84336August 21, 2020 at 8:19 pm #84422@morwen Hello, Riah Black; you’re already here at the Kingdom, so I guess the greeting will have to be changed. HELLO AGAIN FROM THE WHAT’SIT.
I like Tolkien’s works, as well. My main genre for writing is fantasy, and I’m not particularly interested in dystopian. That might be because I haven’t read some good dystopian, but I don’t know.
I like languages, words, things (there’s a lot here), and linguistics; among many other things, of course. And The Lord of the Rings is actually a single novel. Not a trilogy. The only reason there are three is because when Tolkien originally went to get it published, his publishing company wouldn’t publish something so long. He also wanted to publish The Silmarillion along with The Lord of the Rings in one single novel, but his publisher wouldn’t even think of that.
August 21, 2020 at 8:19 pm #84423I actually have TLOTR as one book…it’s quite cool, in my opinion; though it would be anyways, because it’s my own opinion.

I only just saw your comment, sorry 😛
I have the LOTR as one book as well, and I like it very well that way. You should see what my copy looks like. It’s worn almost thin from so much reading, haha.
Linguistics is fun! I’m toying with the idea of becoming a philologist.

September 22, 2020 at 9:57 pm #85175@morwen Hey, that’s alright! Actually, I don’t blame you a bit; in fact, I’ve been staring at yours for the past week…XD (Not really, of course, I mean, that wouldn’t make sense.)
Verily right! I’m sure your’s is; it is hardcover or paperback? Mine’s a grey leather edition. I’d be reading it right now, but it’s in Sacramento. (at least, it was last I checked)
Nice! My POV exactly! I’m working myself into the “amateur philologist” with the resources I have (I don’t appreciate that word amateur though; that is, it’s one meaning. Surprisingly enough *checking sources* it carries an interesting implication from its roots. According to one of my many dictionaries (I’m not obsessed or anything; there’s just a whole lot of different editions) the word amateur comes from French ‘amateur’ (many English words come from French; about sixty percent of English comes from French if my facts are correct) which put into a French phrase thusly: Amateur des beaux-arts. This, translated into English comes out like this: lover of the fine arts (or fine arts lover). Amateur also has Italian (amatore) and Latin (amator: lover) roots. (Also: amare which is ‘to love’; I don’t know the origin of this word.) Basically, amateur comes with the implication that the one who is an amateur at (something) is entering into that (something) because they love it. But they are inept at it.
BUT ANYWAYS. There’s my linguistics/etymology/philology rant for the day.
September 23, 2020 at 2:34 am #85178Fascinating discovery. Now I guess I won’t be ashamed to call myself an amateur anymore 😛
My copy is hardcover. Well, only one side of it still has the cover attached and the spine is long gone but oh well.

September 23, 2020 at 7:04 pm #85201@morwen I came to the same deduction myself on the matter.
You must’ve read that one many times, I gather.
September 25, 2020 at 12:07 pm #85238@leon-fleming
That’s for sure :))
