@emberlynn Aw, thanks! I guess I kind of doubt my capabilities as the older sister sometimes–it’s a difficult job. Being in the middle would be the best of both worlds, wouldn’t it?
You’re so welcome! ๐
September 28, 2020 at 11:34 am #85261@emberlynn Nice! If you ever want any series recommendations, just ask XD Your Name is a fantasy romance about a guy and a girl who switch bodies. I won’t say too much more, otherwise it’ll be spoiled.
Lately, it's been on my brain
Would you mind letting me know
If hours don't turn into daysSeptember 30, 2020 at 10:22 am #85278@devastate-lasting I would love recommendations, actually–I’m always a little unsure about animes I can watch (hard to know what’s safe). I’ll def. look into the ones you mentioned tho ๐

September 30, 2020 at 10:33 am #85280@emberlynn Hello, hello!
I’ve been doing orchestra for about… 6 years? (I honestly can’t remember.) I started in high school and continued into college. How about you? Do you have a favorite kind of music you like to play?
Also, Japanese is so cool!! It’s always fascinated me, even though I haven’t the faintest idea how the language works. ๐
I have the Mysterious Benedict Society on my TBR shelf! It’s actually sitting right next to me as I type this, haha. Does Series of Unfortunate Events count as middle grade? Because I’m quite fond of the series. I also remember liking Andrew Clements’ books quite a bit–I wish I had a copy ofย Frindle.
โSeven seconds till the end. Time enough for you. Perhaps. But what will you do with it?โ
September 30, 2020 at 12:11 pm #85285@emberlynn Ah, I see. Well, I’m not exactly sure what kind of content you would be sensitive to, haha, because Ghibli is essentially the Disney of Japan. I myself tend to lean towards seinen anime (for older males) because of the plot and stuff, but I also enjoy shoujo anime (for younger girls). In the latter category I would recommend Your lie in April and Orange. Both are a little similar, romances, but also beautifully drawn. The best fantasy I’ve seen is Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood, though it does have a bit of violence. I think we’ve got some other FMA fans on this forum too, haha. If a slice-of-life is more towards your leaning then might I suggest Silver Spoon? By the author of FMA, actually. I just started reading it recently, and it’s quite good. And my top favorite is definitely Terror in Resonance. Though I have to warn you, Ghibli is more focused towards children, so it’s definitely more clean than series, which are aimed towards teens and young adults. So there’ll be language and violence and things like that.

If hours don't turn into daysSeptember 30, 2020 at 5:55 pm #85301@devastate-lasting Well I would say I don’t mind a little violence and whatnot as long as the overarching theme of the movie promotes a good message…Less would probably be better tho ๐ If you couldn’t tell by my reading preferences, I do generally prefer childrens (why I love Studio Ghibli, haha). And I do try to be careful about what I watch (sorry that probably makes it difficult >.<).ย I know a lot of anime is more mature.ย Thanks for sharing those tho, I’ll check them out ๐
@lewilliams Hello!Nice! I’ve been doing orchestra for around three-ish years now.ย Started as a sophomore I think.ย I love playing Irish/Celtic music in orchestra! It’s some of the only music where the cellos get something interesting to play XD How about you?
Great! I hope you enjoy reading it ๐ I’ve never read Series of Unfortunate Events, but I’ve heard a lot about it.ย Have you ever read Wingfeather Saga? (Another favorite of mine ๐)
October 14, 2020 at 2:13 pm #85858@emberlynn Uh…(cough) *usually I’m not so late to these things*; so besides the fact that I’m about an, er, month late, Welcome to Kingdom Pen. Though, I’m sure you’ve already been very properly welcomed. (hahahaha)
So you’re on SE? Nice; I used to be. Not sure if I’d recognize you, right; is your SE name a secret? I was once aย William Norfleet among others.
Languages you say? Which ones? I enjoy running, too, though I haven’t had lots of time for it lately. Another piano player, too, I see; nice. Have you read N.D.Wilson’s fantasy novels? Are you published? Do you write by notebook or computer (etc. of course)?

@emberlynn Just a heads-up, @leon-fleming is pretty much always late. I don’t know why he bothers.
October 14, 2020 at 2:20 pm #85863@gracie-j Ha. Ha. You’re hilarious.

@leon-fleming I know. It’s part of my charm.
October 16, 2020 at 4:48 pm #86361@gracie-j XD Dripping with sarcasm is a frequent habit of mine. I drip with sarcasm like people sweat in Florida. I drip with sarcasm like Burnt Steak (a character of mine; his name actually is Burnt Wood, but people call him Burnt Steak on occasion. P.S. I just made him up, and there’s another book idea along with him. Hold on.)

@leon-fleming Sarcasm? No, no, no–you were being serious. Iย am hilarious. And I really think that’s real sweat you’re dripping with. You’re intimidated by my sense of humor.
October 18, 2020 at 7:25 pm #86458@leon-fleming Thank you!
The name sounds familiar…I think I remember seeing you around SE.ย I don’t think we met tho.ย ย And
no it’s not a secret I said it earlieractually yes it’s a secret. ๐As for languages… Japanese, mostly.ย Some Spanish.ย A little German. ๐ Yeah I actually haven’t run in a while either ๐(I blame life).ย So you play piano too? How long have you been playing? No, I have not read ND Wilson’s works.ย They have been recommended to me a few times now tho, so I probably should. ๐ Do you have a favorite of his? No, not published. *sigh* And I mostly write by hand.ย It’s too hard sitting in front of a computer for long periods of time. What about you?
Thanks for the welcome ๐
@gracie-j Haha, you two XD
