@calidris Oh wow! That is really creative! Is it possible to go through the Veil?
Lately, it's been on my brain
Would you mind letting me know
If hours don't turn into daysAugust 18, 2021 at 2:24 pm #103574@devastate-lasting thanks! Honestly, I have no idea. It’s a really interesting concept, though! I think probably not for now, but I guess it depends on whether or not I want to start including travel between dimensions 🙂
I really like stuff involving this sort of weird reality bending stuff, but it’s such a pain when it comes to plotting. Like, what are it’s limits? How does it work? It’s hard when you don’t know yet 🙂

August 18, 2021 at 2:44 pm #103575@calidris Samee I feel your pain. Usually I just make it up as I go along and don’t plot anything. It’s a ride.

If hours don't turn into daysAugust 18, 2021 at 3:06 pm #103576@devastate-lasting yep! At this point, I actually feel like I have very little control of whats going on in the story. I’ve written myself into a place where I can’t really control what happens without interfering with the setting and character development and I just have to let the events play out as realistically as possible, which is hard because the realistic ending is still kind of depressing 🙁
I feel like after a certain amount of time, certain characters just start to get independant and you can’t really control them or make decisions for them. Has that ever happened to you? It seems to be a common thread when i talk to other writers lol

August 18, 2021 at 6:20 pm #103581@calidris Yess it’s always like that for me even though I dictate the outline they still do their own thing in each scene. And at this point the depressing endings are plentiful.
Yep, my characters are all their own beings now. I rarely plot them beforehand, and sometimes I’m surprised by how different than I thought they would be.

August 18, 2021 at 6:54 pm #103583Greetings and salutations.
Welcome to this epic forum.
Questions:
1: What other anime do you watch besides Hiakyuu? My favorites are Death note, Erased and Attack On Titan
2: Don’t like pineapple on pizza.
Flawless and handsome (as ruled by my grandmother.)
August 18, 2021 at 7:04 pm #103585@not-so-secret-secret-assassin I don’t watch any other anime 🙂 I’m just getting started. The friend who introduced it to me also recommended death note and erased, and she’s also a fan of attack on titan.
I think I’m going to have to try pineapple pizza someday just to see what it’s all about. It sounds like the sort of thing you have to be in the mood for tbh. I see you’re not a fan though lol
Do you write? What genres do you like to write in?

August 18, 2021 at 7:22 pm #103586@calidris Can’t decide…too many… I like writing Akira a lot. A sarcastic, no-good barista. Rides a skateboard, chaotic neutral.

If hours don't turn into daysAugust 18, 2021 at 7:34 pm #103588@devastate-lasting akira sounds really fun 🙂 chaotic neutral characters are just really fun tbh

August 18, 2021 at 7:42 pm #103590@calidris I love writing him with any of my other characters, because he just spices up the scene so much. Chaos ftw.

If hours don't turn into daysAugust 18, 2021 at 8:03 pm #103594@devastate-lasting they really bring out the best (and worst) in other characters lol. I have a rather chaotic hero (Misu) and and a very chaotic villain (the Shrike) 🙂

If hours don't turn into daysAugust 18, 2021 at 9:46 pm #103603Your friend has great taste. Erased was so good I watched it in two days.
Visuals in writing is so fun. It’s a challenge because you can only use words instead of actual imagery, but that somehow makes it all the better because you have to get creative with it.
My favorite part about writing is exploring different characters. Their worldview, fears, desires, background, etc. Seeing and exploring the world through their eyes while learning more about the characters while journeying with them.
I almost always prefer sunny weather, except when the rainy weather has thunder included. Then rainy weather all the way.
Also, who is your favorite character in the current novel your working on?
Erased is so good right? Despite my brother hyping it up, it exceeded my expectations. Where did you buy the manga for Erased? I really want to get it.
Yo, you had a Sméagol plastic cup? That’s genius. I don’t know why people were giving you weird looks, I’ve never heard of a better party cup. If I saw someone have a Sméagol plastic cup at a party we’d be immediate friends and I’m not even joking, haha.
August 18, 2021 at 10:34 pm #103605@kathleenramm honestly, probably Misu. I don’t know if you saw my earlier post, but he’s basically a disguised angel whose been wandering the earth for the past two thousand years helping people in need (he’s very much based off of Gandalf in this aspect). For the majority of the Spire arc, the characters aren’t aware of this, which causes some…interesting misunderstandings (Misu’s disguise as a mortal human is “quirky” at best, and unconvincing at worst). He ends up revealing his true form in a battle against the Shrike (who is another favorite of mine)
Who’s your favorite character?
