Ok, so obviously you indent each paragraph when you’re writing (at least I do XD). But I’m seeing that maybe you don’t indent the first paragraph in the chapter- is that right, or is it optional?

www.jennaterese.com@selah-chelyah I don’t think it really matters grammatically; it might only be a matter of style and opinion. I usually leave my first paragraphs unindented, and if it isn’t a rule, there are sure a lot of people who do it.

According to the first result of Google: “Professionally printed material typically does not indent the first paragraph, but indents those that follow. For example, Robert Bringhurst states that we should “Set opening paragraphs flush left.”[4] Bringhurst explains as follows … … This creates what is sometimes known as “block paragraphs”.”

Great thoughts, guys. Sounds like the official (new?) way to do it is without indents on the first paragraph, so I’ll go with that. Unless I don’t like how it looks. XD Then I’ll change it back. Thx for the help! 🙂

XD Yeah, the Bumbling Henchidiotpeoples, in my mind. Lol. You’ll be there before you know it. I haven’t seen it- one of those movies is the one Rochelle was gonna see on her flight before you-know-what, though, so that’s what it makes me think of. Sorry, morbid. XD

Oh, no, you got me all wrong. Guilt? Not in the least. In fact, just talking about it makes me want to work on other books where I kill more MCs. It’s so redemptive for those left alive! Seriously. How else to drive home reality, as well as character? Sure, it rips your heart out ’cause you feel like you’re dying along with them when you’re writing from inside their heads, but that’s just part of being an author. Right? XD

Oh, finally! *whips brow* Somebody who thinks like me! I recently just finished this epic death scene in my epic lay, and honestly, I had to take a break for a second. It’s probably one of my favorite scenes in the lay so far. Totally, right.
