Hey everyone!! This came to me during my quiet time and I wrote it down. It could honestly be polished a lot but it had a tune to it that I didn’t want to mess with, so here it is anyway XD
The Midnight Hour
Holy
Holy
You are Holy
in the midnight hour
My God
You speak and mountains move
You breath and I do too
You stay close when others don’t
You’re the reason I’m still breathing
It’s you
It’s you.
In the midnight hour
when I’m chained
You come with power
and I’m redeemed
and you say,
“Come my Child”
Oh God,
I wanna see you smile on me
Let it shine so bright
that the demons fright
and everything’s alright
In the midnight hour.
In the midnight hour.
There is none like you
and when Morning dawns
and the lights are on
You stay close
even then
even when
the lights turn off again
and in a heart that’s
filled with sadness
you keep me up
in the middle of this madness
when a tear could fall
at the drop of a hat
So I am speaking out
into this empty stillness
knowing you are here
I am listening
Quicken my ear.
You are Holy

I was just scrolling and this poem of yours Daisy and I love it.
Is it just me or does the poetry that comes at night the most powerful? The sort that repeats in your head until you HAVE to write it down for fear of it keeping you up all night.

@elanor Aww thank you girl! No I totally agree. I think night time is when we quiet our thoughts more and allow words to flow better. Everything just clicks best that way 😂

The poem sounds really cool. The pictures painted with the metaphors of the trees are cool.
Although while reading about the peppercorn trees it appears almost abstract. Like I can’t quite picture what your painting because I’m not sure what peppercorn trees are supposed to look like lol

True true. Idk where in the country they are, but they have lots of them in California. They’re like weeping willows with reddish berries on them. They have a minty smell. I honestly don’t know how to make it any less abstract other than asking people to google it..😅😂
I was literally standing under a tree outside when I started writing this thing, which is probably why it’s not about weeping willows (or some other tree that everybody knows about).
