@ariel-ashira, I’ve heard of of. my family loosely uses his stuff. last year I was supposed to do OYAN, but I kept going back to my other books so my mom decided to let me write my current books and just use the videos as guidelines for how to write

"In a mask, was he?"
March 28, 2018 at 3:08 pm #69077@ariel-ashira, ish. I think its a great program, but there isn’t much breathing room. I like flexibility, not rigid structure.

Kapeefer til we're old and greyMarch 28, 2018 at 3:15 pm #69080@alia. Interesting. I have been doing Cover Story. You can write about whatever you want, just doing it within guideliness. I enjoy it as a curriculum, because its much more freeing and helpful than anything else I know of. Is OYAN not like that? Or do you not like how its laid out?
"In a mask, was he?"
March 28, 2018 at 3:19 pm #69082@ariel-ashira, I did cover story 7-8th grade. it was easier for me because it was more flexible. OYAN isn’t super rigid, but for me it wasn’t enjoyable or easy for me to learn. my sister, who loves structure was able to use it brilliantly, but not me.

March 28, 2018 at 3:32 pm #69086@ariel-ashira, I think part of the reason it was structured differently was because of the age group that each was focusing on. are y’all going to do his sci-fi/fantasy one?

March 28, 2018 at 3:49 pm #69091@ariel-ashira Cool! How long have you been drawing? 🙂
*Gasps* You do oil panting? Oil paint scares me! I hear you can do some really good blending with it though! I really like the ladies hair.
Oh also you’re really good at drawing horses! I can tell you’ve practiced. Haha that reminds me of a really old drawing of a horse I did. Me and my sister were laughing so hard at it! (I can’t even describe how bad it was)
Now i’m sad though because I think I threw it away.. *scolds past me for throwing away priceless artwork*and I was so confused
March 28, 2018 at 4:00 pm #69093@notawriter I have been drawing since I could hold a pencil. 🙂 Oil painting scared me for a while, but now I am so loving it! I can get it to do what I have always tried to get watercolor or acrylic to do.
Me and my sisters have fun looking at some of our old drawings and laughing at them. There was one I drew years ago where I tried to put the right muscles on the horse, and it looks simply wretched. 🙂 My sister likes to tease me about that one.
But, yeah, don’t throw them away! Its amazing to see how far you’ve come.

March 28, 2018 at 4:15 pm #69099@ariel-ashira Haha after I posted I thought that might be the answer I get. That’s what a lot of artists say! Though there is the occasional person who hasn’t always liked to draw. (Like myself 😉 )
Yeah nowadays I don’t throw my art away.. (The hoard is growing though! :0 ) But i’m sad because I don’t have much from when I was younger. It’s so tragic when people throw their old art or journals away. Like??.. NOoooo! That’s a priceless piece of history!! 😮 Although the question of what to do with it when you have boxes and boxes of old notebooks and sketchbooks has yet to be answered. Not quite there yet though so ill burn that bridge when I get to it! ;D- This reply was modified 6 years, 7 months ago by The fledgling Artist.
