A week or two ago I finally got Eli by Bill Myers. I wasn’t sure about the idea (a parallel universe with Jesus coming in modern day instead of 2000 years ago, but the book was wonderful. It was well written, very powerful, and dealt with the retelling of Jesus’s life masterfully. If you have a chance to read the book, I’d highly recommend it.
INTJ - Inhumane. No-feelings. Terrible. Judgment and doom on everyone.
November 28, 2015 at 6:48 pm #7714Oh good! I’m glad to hear it was well done. Something like that done ill would be very destructive. I applaud anyone who can tackle such a job and come out on top. 😛

So, I’m on here way late, but oh well. 🙂 I have read the Redwall series SO MANY TIMES! Most of the books I have probably read almost 5 times. I don’t even know which is my favorite. “An old-fashioned girl” was probably one of Lousia May Alcott’s books that I enjoyed the most. If you’re into historical fiction, the Shenandoah Sisters series by T. Davis Bunn is incredible. If you like biographies, the “Cross and the Switchblade” and “Won by Love” (tells the story of Norma Macorvy (Jane Roe of Roe vs Wade) and how she became a Christian and pro-life) are both really good. I have so many books I love and I can’t name near all of them!
December 3, 2015 at 6:47 pm #7858The Screwtape Letters. READ THEM. READ THEM READ THEM READ THEM.
December 3, 2015 at 8:25 pm #7861Our family just read Storybound by Marissa Burt and it was… gah, spoilers, but it was really really good. Make sure to have the sequel on hand, though. The first one ends on a cliffhanger. 😛
Only issue was good guys using magic, and I wasn’t really all the comfortable with that.December 3, 2015 at 8:52 pm #7862Hey Rosey, can I ask you what it is you don’t like about magic? I’m not being patronizing— really I’m not. But I love this discussion. This is like one of my absolute pet-peeve discussions, and I’m always on the lookout for someone who can offer a new dimension of thought to it. I’d love to discuss this with you.
I already created a thread for it if you’re interested— it was the first thread I started on this forum. 🙂 Here it is.
I’d love it if you would discuss this with me. I really would.
December 4, 2015 at 6:37 pm #7872Return to Me, by Lynn Austin. Set during the return of the Israelites to Jerusalem after their exile to Babylon and the MC is the prophet Zechariah! Really good story.
December 6, 2015 at 10:21 am #7886I have to join in, sorry guys. This is an awesome topic! Ok, here are some of my favorite books:
Lord of the Rings…It’s just simply amazing!
The Harry Potter books are awesome!
The Percy Jackson series was hilarious! I love Rick Riordan’s writing style. 🙂
The Mysterious Benedict Society…very cleverly written (is cleverly a word? :P)
To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee (if you haven’t read it, read it!)
A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket (not my favorite favorite books, but still amazing)
Of course, Narnia.
Sherlock Holmes (I’ve read a bunch of the short stories and a couple novels like the Hound of the Baskervilles: and they’re all brilliant)
The Giver by Lois LowryThere are probably some I’m missing; this is all I could think of right now. 🙂
December 6, 2015 at 10:38 am #7887The Giver is a amazing. So are Gathering Blue, The Messenger, and The Son. Their all in the same series

OrpheusAudioAcademy.comDecember 7, 2015 at 3:47 pm #7918Hey Hannah! C. S. Lewis. 🙂
It’s not so much of a stunning story as it is a stunningly insightful… er… devotional, for lack of a better word! It’s basically the correspondence of Screwtape, a demon, with his nephew demon, Wormwood, in which Screwtape advises him in all the billions of ways to tempt a human being.
Now that sounds revolting and awful, but I promise you it is not. It’s the ultimate in darkness used to showcase the ultimate in light.December 7, 2015 at 6:14 pm #7920Wow, I might have to look into that @kate-flournoy! Sounds like a GREAT book. 🙂

December 7, 2015 at 7:14 pm #7927It is. It really is. Every person should read Screwtape. Get ‘Screwtape Proposes a Toast’ as well if you can— it doesn’t always come with the rest of the ‘Screwtape’ material, but it’s FANTASTIC— especially if one is a political nut-case like myself. 😛
