      @savannah_grace2009

I don’t think it’s wrong that you guys do that, but I am kind of wary about the fact that by confessing your sins through a priest, you are forgiven by God. It doesn’t make sense to me, because why would you not just go to God directly? I do think it can be very beneficial to tell a priest your sins, but I don’t really like the fact that you have to do that in order to be forgiven. Only God can forgive sins, and it’s not through a human.

correct, the priest isn’t forgiving the sins. It is God.

I didn’t really know mega churches were a thing until recently.

I think mega churches can be a good thing, but as long as they preach the Gospel. A lot of mega churches (from what I’ve heard, I’ve never been to one so I could be completely off) water down the truth about Jesus, or they put on a “show” with lights and smoke, when being a Christian is really not all glamour and it isn’t always exciting. As long as they speak the truth of the Gospel, I don’t mind it.

However, I do agree that a lot of times they get so big that people get disconnected and cliques start forming, which isn’t unity.

that is how some are… 😮‍💨 but not mine. this is what I said to Esther:

my church is definitely not corrupted! All the people there truly care and want to give people a god church experience to make them care about church. And we do try to get people into the church, but that is us just following the mission of Jesus and being fishers of men! Like most churches just stay in their own community and do not go out into the world and make followers of christ. And we don’t just do that for our church, but my church goes all over the world rebuilding the churches. (Either literally fixing them, bringing people to them, or fixing the community of the church!) The funny part is we work with only traditional churches. (No we do not make them mega churches. We just bring people to them, and teach how to bring people to them.) We work with them until they are independent enough to sustain themselves! We also work with a ton of protestants churches! Like my dad worked with my friends non-denominational church once.

It depends on how well I know them and if they’re talking to me.

If the person is a classmate or a friend, I would probably try to explain my beliefs about it.

I don’t tend to respond in anger, though. I think honestly, I would probably ignore them XDXD

I know what I believe, and I’m probably not going to convince them otherwise if they’re that passionate about mocking it.

I tend to lose my patience 😅 pray that God will give me the gift of patience…

“those d*** Christians” Did she say dumb? Or something else Idk about… but besides that, I think that would take patience, not snapping back at them.

No- I didn’t type the whole word because most people consider it a cuss word- she said “damn”. I don’t consider it as bad as the f-word but I definitely still don’t use it.

          @esther-c

Sorry, I just realized I never replied to your explanation of contemporary churches.

Ours will normally follow the same pattern of announcements, we have a time of worship through song, then the sermon, then we’ll end with another song and sometimes Communion. This can change depending on the Sunday, but that’s the normal structure we follow. From what I understand, other denominations tend to follow more closely to a liturgy, right?

Yeah, definitely. We follow the exact liturgy every week, with hymns interspersed, and a reading from the OT, the Psalms, an Epistle, and a Gospel, and Communion.

Again, it can depend upon the church, but I do understand what you mean by not dressing up. Most people in our church dress up to some extent, but it’s not weird to see someone wearing a t-shirt or a sweatshirt, or even shorts to be honest. I wouldn’t wear shorts to a church service just because that’s not what I’m used to, but I personally have nothing against it.

I usually wear a dress or skirt, as do many of the women. Pretty much everyone in our church dresses up, except some of the younger children. I don’t necessarily think it’s wrong to not dress up; I just think it’s strange. We’re going to worship the King of everything and some people are going in sweat pants? XD

We use grape juice because….I think it’s kinda weird to us to use wine tbh. 😅

Fair enough. It’s weird to us to use grape juice. XD

speaking of jews, what are your honest thoughts on them? Like how to you see them?

I believe they are God’s people, and that the promises God made still apply. I don’t believe that the Church is the new Israel.

Other than them being God’s people, I don’t stand behind them. They support the lgbtq+ community last I heard, and I don’t stand by that AT ALL. In short, I’m pro-Israel as far as them being God’s people.

Oh, okay. Um, I don’t imagine a beaver dam being that bad. But I know for sure you shouldn’t say it.

              @rae

Hm, I feel bad for everything the jews have gone through in history! All the accounts from the Bible, the pogroms, holocaust, and modern days people trying to remove them.

But I do not agree with the LGBQ blah blah blah stuff.

well there is like two ships that are straight… BUT ONE OF THEM IS WITH A BROTHER AND SISTER! THESE PEOPLE ARE TWISTED IN THE MIND!!!!!!)

ngl incest ships are worse for me. Gay ships? Disgusting. I hate them. But at the same time, that’s the way the world is going, and while I don’t agree with it I’m not gonna be surprised at it anymore. Which is sad, but it’s true. I just don’t pay attention to it and move on to something better.

Incest ships? That tells me the shipper is a different kind of depraved. Fortunately it seems like I’m not alone in this regard, but I have seen people who support shipping between siblings and it makes me wanna smash something.

The absolute worst, though? Is when it’s both. Shipping between brothers. TWIN BROTHERS. NO. NONONONONONO. STARS AND SHADOWS, NO. WHAT IS WRONG WITH THAT PERSON.

Yeah! I am glad it is non-cannon… and I am no longer surprised when two of the same gender are shipped… (😮‍💨) but there is one thing worse that these people do that is WAYYYYYYYY worse than shipping siblings, or family… I can’t even say it!

Wanna know why? BECAUSE IT IS LITERALLY AND ILLEGAL SHIP!!!!!!!!! I hate fandoms…. I wish shipping was never a thing. Or stuff…

*is confused* If you know it’s God forgiving the sins, then why do you guys go to confession to a priest at all? Why not just ask God?

I’m sorry if that sounded rude…I don’t mean it that way, I’m just very confused and trying to understand.

And about mega churches, my comments weren’t directed at you or your church! I’m glad you have a good church and place to worship <3

I think some of the people in our church are first generation Christians, so they never grew going to church and really knowing what that’s like. That may be part of the reason, but part of it is also personal choice. I have nothing against it, but again, I like to nice for church.

I totally get what you mean though!

Yeah that’s awesome! Some mega churches can be great! I guess only the bad ones made it onto the media 😅 And what I meant by getting people in, is seeing how big they can make their church, instead of actually discipling people and helping them grow in Christ. Like, they’re more focused on getting five thousand people on Sunday just to look good, than maybe a thousand who actually love Jesus or want to know more about Him.

Also, what do you mean by “give them a good church experience to make them care about church?” I wanted to say something about that, but I want to be sure I’m understanding you correctly. : )

                          not really 0_0…

Lol, sorry! What I meant, is that if someone is mocking the church or Christianity to my face, I’d probably just do my best to shrug it off. Like, Whatever bro. Jesus told His followers that they would be hated, not because of who they were necessarily, but because the world already hates Him. Mockery shouldn’t come as a surprise.

I might try to defend Christianity or God if they’re mocking them, but I don’t want to get into a fight. They might be mocking just to try to get on my nerves, or just to run their mouth and make their opinion heard. People do that all the time on social media. If my effort to defend will make God or Christianity look bad because I’m getting in a heated argument, then I’m not going to do it. It’s just not worth it. God will defend Himself. (Now don’t get me wrong, I believe we should stand up for what we believe in, but we aren’t on this earth to argue with people who hate Him. We’re there to bring those people closer to Him. And some of those people are just going to reject that over and over again.)

hm, I am the same way (kinda)

What do you mean by “kinda”?

So you do Communion every week?

                              Indeed.

I think some of the people in our church are first generation Christians, so they never grew going to church and really knowing what that’s like. That may be part of the reason, but part of it is also personal choice. I have nothing against it, but again, I like to nice for church.

A lot of churches nowadays also have a “come as you are” policy. My dad says we are not a “come as you are” church. Obviously, it’s better than not going to church at all, or doing it on Zoom though.

Haha, I guess it just comes down to tradition then! XD

Beliefs about alcohol are probably involved too. We don’t see anything wrong with drinking, (in moderation; don’t get drunk obviously), but I know a lot of traditions believe differently.

Sorry for not responding sooner, I was on a missionary trip to our sister church in Uganda.

What are your thoughts on catholic reconciliation?

I am not against the idea, I actually support it in a sense. Though, I think it should not just be isolated to your priest/pastor. but to trustworthy friends and family as well. Talk about what’s going on in your life, sure struggles with one another. Being willing to talk together about hard subjects will build each other up to help serve Christ better.

What are your thoughts on how the church is portrayed in media?

I don’t know if I know enough about the subject to actually voice an opinion about it.

How do you feel on videos doing a joke based on something from the Bible.

Honestly, I make jokes in reference to the Bible often, it just depends on what the joke is, and what audience you are presenting it to.

What do you think of the new churches (like mega churches.)

I’m not a big fan of mega churches because it’s harder to operate. That’s just my opinion, there are probably other things wrong with them (like prosperity gospel), but that is my main reason.

Have you ever told something false to someone about a church, and or the bible?

I don’t remember, but I have a feeling I have at some point, which I’m not very proud of.

If someone makes fun of the church, or mocks it, how do you respond.

                                Depends

What do you react to finding out that an artist you like begins to do wrong things. (Like a draw and art piece disrespectful to God, or Jesus. Or makes a song about demons and worshiping them or something. Any range of “art”)

I move on, I am not going to have the chance probably to confront that person about it, so why make a big fuss.

I agree, it does help to tell others your sin!

I just get a weird feeling about being expected to or being required to. XD

And in my opinion you should ask God for forgiveness first, and then talk to someone else and make it right with the person you sinned against, and tell a trusted friend for accountability. I do think it is healthy to be open about your sins though, it teaches accountability!
