Plus, the Bible requires two things if you want to read it. Context, and an open mind. You need history and context to even understand HALF, if not ALL of the Bible.
.
Context and History is all in the Bible. Reading other passages helps you understand other passages.
I would like to add something about this…
While the power of the Bible can stand alone, without the help of historical or cultural context, understanding the background of the time can be immensely helpful and even open your eyes to things that you might not have noticed before.
That’s not to say you need those things though. I’m just saying looking into and understanding the thinking of the people at the time that specific portion of the Bible was written can really help you understand it deeper.
If we believe that the Bible is God’s Sovereign Word, we believe God had a hand in how it was translated. The Bible is all we have to go off of and it’s the number one way God communicates it to us.
Kefa, I’m interested to hear your thoughts on this. So are you basically saying that the Bible contains the Word of God, but the whole thing isn’t the Word of God?
(Don’t get me wrong, I’m not targeting you or anything. I’m just curious to know what you’re thinking about this.)

I don’t think @the_lost-journal was saying that the teachings of the saints are superior to the Bible. I think he meant that they were another source of instruction.
