@theshadow yeah, they do lol
I think I figured it out some though.
Sniper, like the rest of his team, fears nearly nothing, except magic of any kind. (Listening to some of his voicelines on Halloween-exclusive game modes, he seems utterly terrified at the concept of being attacked by a wizard or ghost.)
Obviously Silvanis and Fairy’s powers are absolutely nothing like what he’s gone through before, but anything remotely similar to it might invoke a similar reaction (as much as these guys deny it, they probably all have quite a bit of PTSD. Well, maybe with the exception of Pyro and possibly Soldier or Medic). At the same time, he’s as entranced by the good qualities of the music as anyone else. So he’s left staring off into nowhere as his instincts fight it out.
Huntress is willing to ignore her inherent fear of magic in favor of enjoying the music. She’s been in the same situations, but she’s also an avid reader and has read several fantasy books in which the characters used their powers for good or at least for purposes that weren’t “torture your enemies”. So she’s more inclined to give it a chance.
Where'd I get ya this time? The liver? The kidney? I'm runnin' outta places to put holes in ya.

Joy
So apparently there were instruments around here. Silvanis and Fairy had each found one. Joy didn’t recognize Fairy’s, but Silvanis’ appeared to be a piano. Fairy began to play, and Silvanis joined in. Joy leaned forward. Their music sounded like nothing she had ever heard before. It was beautiful, and sounded… almost elven. If elves existed. Did elves exist in any of the other worlds? The song went higher, and Joy’s fingers fidgeted. She suddenly longed for her piano at home. The music ended and she leapt to her feet. “That was amazing! Now excuse me; I must find a piano.”
“I found one.” Stephen stood next to her, panting. A battered upright sat beside him. “No idea how we’re supposed to go after that performance though.”
Joy nodded. Sylvanis and Fairy were…something else. But she hadn’t touched a piano in over a day and needed to play something. “How about Misty?” A love song seemed fitting for both the setting and their ridiculous circumstances.
“Sure.” They sat down on the bench and began their duet. Joy had a piano in front of her and Stephen beside her. All was right with the world.
The squirrels are collecting more nuts than usual this winter. I've already lost 3 relatives.
November 18, 2024 at 7:07 pm #190187Ah, interesting. Is there a reason to that? Maybe Medic’s healing or something like that?
"No! Monkeys should have pets, all monkeys should have pets!"
November 19, 2024 at 1:41 pm #190209@theshadow Maybe. Especially considering the bringing him back to life thing lol.
But it probably stems more from the fact that Soldier and Demo have canonically made some powerful enemies (sometimes on purpose, sometimes not lol). Soldier in particular had an ex-roommate-turned-mortal-enemy who was a wizard, and has literally made it his business to torture them when he gets the chance. So. There’s that too.
