      Okay, quick question…

      Do you think it’s cheesy to have the villain eventually be set free from their ways and then fall in love and marry the protagonist?

        If you pull it off in an interesting, believable way I think it could be quite the opposite of cheesy. It all comes down to how you execute it.

          Pretty much what Kathleen said. I think if it’s done right any trope can become enjoyable or even awesome.

            That actually sounds really awesome! 😄 I’d love to read something like that! Just like Kathleen said, if you are able to pull it off right, (as in make it realistic) then I think it would be really interesting!

                            @euodia-vision

                            Hmm…

                            First and foremost, make him (the villain) realistic and relatable. (We’re sort of discussing that on the “What Makes a Good Villain?” forum). If he’s believable and relatable, then it’s going to seem so much less cheesy when we see him fall in love with the protagonist.

                            Now, I don’t know how you’re planning to or already are writing this story, but if you write in omniscient third person (I think that’s what it’s called) then maybe throughout the book or series, we can catch glimpses of his mindset and maybe even a few positive thoughts of his towards the protagonist.

                            Hope that helps! 🙂

                                I think it would work best to do 3rd person limited with some chapters from the villain’s POV but then again I’m a big fan of multi-narrative fiction.

                                  Oooh thanks for those tips! I shall have to check out this villain forum. XD (there are so many forums it’s overwhelming trying to decide which ones to stay on XD) At the moment I’m planning on third-person omniscient so I shall make a note to add that! Thanks, Esther!
