I would love to give ideas if you share an aesthetic and what you have already. I have another long playlist of lyricless music I could draw from.

Unfortunately, it’s such a wide range of music that it’s a little disorienting to listen to. XD

lol yeah same thing with my playlist. I like to say that I get whiplash listening to it. It’s fun. At any moment while listening to my chill folk music I can be jump scared by some electro swing or rock or Indian pop or Holst’s the Planets. It keeps me on my toes.

        Yay!! Thanks.

Here’s the aesthetic. (It’s actually hard for me to get an aesthetic together that captures this story/culture and it not look like an eclectic mess)

I’m getting the song lost together and’ll post it next.

          And here we go!

I will say, I’ve been thinking of trying to find more folky music. While all of this fits in some way, it doesn’t feel cohesive anymore. XD Much of this was compiled from Sight and Sound Theaters soundtracks (SS) Some of the lyric songs are worldbuilding stuff, like worship practices/religion etc., but most are for character dynamics (some of which I marked). A few of the lyric songs aren’t in English, but I looked them up and like the words. Still, they’re pretty much aesthetic. If it’s in Instrumentals, it’s strictly for the way it sounds.

          Lyrics/Themes shared

          Priestly Blessing -Joshua Aaron
          Hatikva – Joshua Aaron
Adon Ata Ori – Joshua Aaron
Hope Song – First Church Worship

          Three Days – SS
          Waiting – SS
          Sabbath Prayer – SS
          Not Alone – SS
          Time for Battle – SS
Learning to Shepherd – SS (Brita to Reuven)
Let Everything that Has Breath – SS (culture)
The God Who Was – SS
          Heart Cries – SS (Alyona)
How Good for Brothers – Simon Khorolskiy
You Are My Hiding Place – Nathan + Rachel
Hineh Ma Tov – James Wilson (culture)
Unsung Hero – 4King&Country (Reuven and Viktor to their natural mothers, Brita and Edria.)
Cheering You On – 4 King and Country (Viktor)
          Psalm 23 – Taryn Harbridge (Culture/theme)
          Lucy’s Tale – Sarah Sparks
Shasta’s Complaint – Sarah Sparks (Yosi)
Iubind Te Daruiesti – Alin Si Emima Timofte
See You Again//Autumn Sessions – Grey Havens

          Instrumentals
Behind the Bush in the Garden – Joemy Wilson
Sove, Sove Liten Ting – Gunnlaug Lien Myhr
Ikødnet – Gunnlaug Lien Myhr (These two technically have words, but they’re just for aesthetics/worldbuilding. I imagine the VoyageFolk singing like this. Disclaimer: I don’t know what they’re saying, other than they’re old folk songs and the artist seemed Christian.)
          Psalm 103 – SS
          Clearing the Temple – SS
          The Good News – SS
          Spear Throw – SS
Shofar (Don Heist) – Joshua Aaron
Be Still, My Soul – Taryn Harbridge
A Little Boy Lost – Michael Card

I love the mood board! Have you posted any of this story on kp? (And have I already asked you that question? I’m so terrible about remembering to read other people’s stuff on here lol)

Here’s a list I made of stuff that might fit. I’m not sure though. They seem a lot different than what you already have. :/

            Individual songs:

Welcome Home, Son by Radical Face

Belly of the Deepest Love by Tow’rs

Lost for Now by Joel Ansett

Scotch and Chocolate by Nickel Creek

Attaboy by Edgar Meyer, Yo-Yo Ma, Chris Thile, and Stuart Duncan

            The Derry Tune by Kila

            Robyn’s Tune by Kila

            Mébh’s Tune by Kila

The Book of Kells by Bruno Coulais

            The Wanderer by An Dochas

A Benediction by The Arcadian Wild

Artists (most of these are Christian and kinda folksy sounding):

The Oh Hellos (one of my absolute favorites they’re so good)

            Brian Sauvé

            Arcadian Wild

            The Gothard Sisters

            The Paper Kites

            Joel Ansett

Thank you! I have shared some snippets… A while ago. I shared the beginning somewhere, and a scene from the middle book. (First, Viktor is talking with his dad in the field, the second Alyona is dealing with scary soldiers.) I think I’ve shared more tiny snippets from the histories though. My work on it is really scattered, so I’m trying to get it more organized. I was supposed to draft it during the summer, but didn’t get past the first few scenes.

A lot of those fit very well! Thank you so much! They’re closer to the acoustic sound I’ve been wanting. The book’s feel in my head is very rustic and thoughtful, like a village in ancient hills where the river in the vinyard runs to the sea and the stories it tells are truer than you’d believe.

And some of those fit my “secret” WIP as well. (The one I don’t talk about much but have a whole collection of Pinterest boards for. It’s what I work on when the Mistmantle/Redwall/Everdale mood is strong, lol. Quirky Irish sounding music that sounds like green forrests thick with adventure where scampering paws dance in delighted defiance to fear.

I was plotting a character’s life story, as one does, and I had the random thought to share a few of her songs. I never remember how many people know about Lucille Barnes so I’m just gonna tag @loopylin @rae

                Julep – Punch Brothers

Malasana – Hania Rani and Dobrawa Czocher

                Past/Present Suite – Nicholas Britell

                Widow – Silksong OST

Movement and Location – Punch Brothers

                Experience – Ludovico Einaudi

Bonus song that has a different vibe but still fits the character: Small Blue Thing – Suzanne Vega

I am out of signature ideas

I’m having that routine feeling where I feel like I shouldn’t have posted that, but there’s no actual reason why I shouldn’t

Ooooo I’m so excited for thiss. I love character playlists so much. And I love Barnes so much.

I’m trying to actually avoid listening to music as often as I usually do, but *takes screenshot for later*

Hey I share dumb playlists with you all the time without you asking for it.

Oh I forgot about this topic. I’ll have to share some character songs one of these days…

I love Lucille. *makes mental note to listen later*
