Alrighty! That took forever. Anywho, I really like picking names for my charries that have meaning. So, even if you didn’t do it on purpose, let’s share some of the meanings of our charries’ names! Some of mine are totally unrelated to their personality. 😂 I’ll start: (sorry that they are not in order)

Everton — boar town; hardy; brave

      Malyk — king

Harlin — noble friend, noble warrior

      Asher — happy, blessed

      Lukas— brings light

      Amidala — beautiful flower

      Adalynn — noble, kind

      Ruben — behold a son

      Destry — war horse

      Fynn — fair

      Skyler — scholar, sky

Oh! Cool topic! I like your character’s names. I don’t usually worry too much about the name meaning, but I do have a couple.

Dante- (this one’s kinda obvious) based off of Dante’s inferno, he is a fire proof alien from a volcanic planet

Carmen- means song, she loves singing and dancing

Simon- means listen or God has heard

          Fun topic!

I like Amidala’s name. So pretty!

          Here’s some of mine:

          From Overcome:

Ludwika: feminine form of (Ger.) Ludwik, which means famous warrior. ( wow. This is new to me.)

Nataliya: the King’s birthday. (the nativity or Christmas)

Piotr: Ukrainian for Peter which means rock

          Lyaksandro: defender of mankind

Michał: Polish for Michael (the angel)

Łucasz: bringing light   (hey we both have a Lukas!! Mine’s the Polish form 😀 )

From My Resolve (a WIP I haven’t talked about much. I’m trying to finish it before New Year’s so I’ve been working on it a lot lately.)

          Lana: pure sunlight

          Henry: leader, ruler

          Euphemia (Effie): fair speech

          Jonathan: gift of God (Hebrew)

          Theodora: gift of God (Greek)

(Funny, Jonathan and Theodora are siblings and their names mean the same thing!)

          Malcolm: Prince, chief

          Arnë: eagle

He must increase, but I must decrease.

Well, I didn’t really think about the meaning of the name when naming my characters at all. But… this made me want to know what they mean, so…

              Milo – soldier

Cammie – helper to the priest

              Grant – big, large

Elissa – God is a promise

None of them really make sense with the character 😂 Elissa is definitely my favorite, though!

              @loopylin

              ~Poor Johnny~

              🤣 Poor, poor, Johnny… he’s doomed

                  Elinor–Old English/Old French: light

Aedan–Irish Gaelic: little fiery one (this fits so perfectly!!)

Durwin–Old English: dear friend (I knew this when I picked the name but I didn’t exactly choose it because of the meaning

                  In Swallowtail Summer:

                  Brooke–English/German: uh, brook 😝

                  Claire–English: bright, clear

                  Ruby–English: um, ruby LOL

Thanks! I love naming characters. For My Resolve I remember looking through the back of a dictionary and finding old names to use. It was fun. 🙂

                      Oo, fun!!

Let’s see how many I can remember:

                      Christopher: Greek, Christ-bearer

Alexander: Greek, protector and defender of mankind (really fits his personality!)

                      Briana: Irish, high, noble, exalted

                      Andrea: womanly

                      Elena: Spanish, torch, light

                      Cara: friend

                      Jade: Um, jade stone?

Michael: Hebrew, who is like God

I don’t think I really have any other important characters 🙂

Dark is the Shadow, and yet my heart rejoices.

@esther-c YESSS ME TO!!! I love naming charries just because I can look up names with meaning!!! It’s so fun!!!

                          So here’s mine!

Arabella: Means Prayerful or yielding to prayer (I actually didn’t know this or choose her name for this, I chose it because it was pretty and princess sounding lol! I thought it meant beautiful, but I love it!!!)

November: Means the word nine, which doesn’t really relate to him….but…ah…my November has a couple secrets. (SPOILER…yea if ur really curious u can go check out the spoiler forum.)

                          Corvina: Raven-haired

                          Jocelyn: Happy, Joyful (so fitting)

Nyx: Night, The word Nyx also means nothing, but in my brain I associate it with trickiness, etc. such as Nyxing things.

Grimm: Can mean fierce, stern, severe (I prefer the first one) I also found one place where it said it can mean Mask, etc.

                          Paxton: Peace town (🥰)

                          Luna/Dolunay: Full moon/moon

                          Arthur: Bear, Strong man.

Oh, I really like the name Ruben. And of course, Everton. He’s my favorite from your WIP.

                            @loopylin

Oh! I like the name Dante.

                            @theloonyone

                            I like Ellisa’s name, and it’s meaning too! 😀

Have I met Grant yet? 🤔

                            @arien

Oh I like the name Aedan! And little fiery one 😂 that’s funny.

                            @starofthenorth

I like the name Elena’s name!

                            Here are mine:

Tauren: Bull. Not very fitting. 😂 I had no idea. I just thought Tauren Wells had a cool name and I copied it lol.

Lesli: A garden where the holly tree grows.

                            Layson: Son of Lawrance

                            Maylee:

Ok so, I just picked this name because I heard the name Marlee, liked it, but thought Maylee would be better. I looked it up, and it’s like a exact description of her! here’s a direct copy of what the website I saw said:

The name Maylee is sometimes used generically to refer to a beautiful girl with dark hair and Asian features, and sometimes more broadly used to refer to any beautiful girl with dark hair.

Like, that’s Maylee! 🤣 I had no idea!

                            Everly: boar, woodland clearing.

Kaine: spear, little battler. (Also pretty fitting)

and fun fact, my Irl name means Ruler of Elves. My old youth pastor called me Elrondia when he learned that 😂

Awww, I love everyone’s charries name meanings!! So, for Matthew and Lyla I did look up a bunch of names and their meanings, and I chose the two that seemed most fitting and I liked the most.

                              Matthew means: Gift of God.

Lyla means: Island Beauty, Night Beauty, Dark. (I didn’t choose her name because of night and dark tho 😅. Just bc it’s pretty and I liked the sound of Island Beauty.)

                              Iris means: Rainbow

                              Asher means: Happy, Blessed.

The last two I didn’t look up the meanings, but Asher’s fits perfectly!! He is always happy. And Iris…well, I don’t know about her being a rainbow 🤷🏻‍♀️.  But she’s happy and caring and gentle.
