Ellis
“Imitated a bird,” Ellis repeated slowly.
Yeah, said Conviction. You know, completely normal things!
Ellis narrowed his eyes, wondering if she was making fun of him. She seemed serious.
“Thae Shi?” he asked. “Are you Sa Li?” Her hair was dark enough, but her skin seemed too light. But the Sa Li weren’t necessarily the only people who could use Thae Shi.

“I’m Strahchi.” Szabrin said, “Well, part. Pureblooded Strahchi can’t use Imitation…” She trailed off. “What’s Thae Shi? And where are you from? I don’t recognize these terms you’re using.”

January 30, 2024 at 6:37 pm #174891Actually wait, I take it back, fullblooded Strahchi can use Imitation ignore my mistake. I got mixed up.

January 30, 2024 at 9:02 pm #174899It’s gonna be interesting when Szabrin starts calling Ellis Percaro.
Being called Nayhelm doesn’t effect Nahim as much as it does to other Realn because he’s the last Nayhelm. Being called Nayhelm is now pretty common.

January 30, 2024 at 9:13 pm #174900Ellis would just think she’s being polite. In real life, it used to be normal to call someone you didn’t know well by their last name. If Rin’s culture is the same she might actually call him by his first name, thinking it’s his last name, which he might find weirder.

For instance, Mandin Owen Ward is called Mandin Owen just because it’s known he’s from the family-clan Ward. Lone Ones, like Nahim, don’t belong to this general rule.

She stared at Nahim. “Your confidence is reassuring, I suppose.” Nazyra passed a hand over her white and lavender hair, tugging at the ends. “I will confess to not knowing much about Surfacer dwellings and customs. It has… been awhile.” She glared at the stone below her feet. It wasn’t the right kind of rock, patterned and cut rather than smooth and marbled.
Sooooo if we are allowed up to three characters… then I might toss another in here. Or two more…

His is eternal (:January 31, 2024 at 11:04 am #174919Interesting, Strahchi will do something similar, addressing each other by their middle and given name (though ofc for them the middle name comes before their given name). Adress only by given name is reserved only for family members. People rarely address each other by their ‘last’ name.
(it’s funny, because this is only supposed to be a side culture, and it’s my most developed culture on this planet XD)

@highscribe btw, one thing….I’d love to see Rin impersonate Snake someday lol
Speaking of which, about the naming conventions and stuff, he only has the one name. His last name has long been forgotten, and while his given first name is David, he hasn’t used it in years. Back when he wasn’t much more than a pleasure-seeking mercenary, someone called him “Snake” for his cunning and fierceness, and he’s been called nothing but that ever since. (and all that is an explanation I came up with, and isn’t pulled from the several videogame canons he appears in)
Where'd I get ya this time? The liver? The kidney? I'm runnin' outta places to put holes in ya.

Okay! So here is the character I’d like to add. I’ve never written him before but I think he’ll be fun to write
Name: Synian
Age: Probably around thirty four-ish
Description: he is about average height, black and leather clothing, with a sword strapped to his back and lots and lots of smooth little rocks attached to a belt on his waist and across his chest. The sword has a gap in the metal from blade to handle, so it almost appears that part of the metal is floating. He has brown eyes, and black hair with gold streaked at the tips.
Personality: You will see when I write him, hehe…

And guess what? His is eternal (:February 1, 2024 at 12:42 pm #174986Well, Imitating humans (or any sapient creature) is really really hard. You need to know a lot about the subject, and it has a lot to do with mind state. You almost have to convince yourself that you are that person, which takes a lot of knowledge about them. If you don’t understand them, the Imitation is not gonna stick. Plus, if you get distracted, or start thinking too much like yourself, you’re going to lose the Imitation. People who use Imitation are trained to collect and retain massive amounts of information about people, but this takes a lot of time and skill, neither of which Szabrin has much of. So all that to say, she likely wouldn’t be able to pull it off XD
(apologies for the rant 😅)
Btw it’s your turn to RP if you weren’t aware (not to pressure you if you were, just wanted to make sure you knew).

February 1, 2024 at 1:50 pm #174997@highscribeofaetherium I see. Makes sense, since she doesn’t have to copy a whole mind for a non-sentient creature.
Hey, maybe that’s how they meet him–they see a dragon fly overhead, she tries to imitate him but can’t and realized he’s a sentient being, likely as lost as they are?
It’s not a great idea but I just wanted to throw it out there.
