@dekreel Awesome! I like the girl with the hat too.
@sarah-anson This is great! I’ve literally drawn one boy in my whole life and it didn’t turn out boyish enoughI'm a Kapeefer 'TIL WE'RE OLD AND GREY!

January 29, 2018 at 1:02 pm #61685@sarah-anson cool 😀 You did a good job making such a intense expression 😉
@jenwriter17 You should try again some time! 😀 Rome wasn’t built in a day you know 😉 I’ve drawn a lot of boys and only recently have they started looking like actual boys haha.and I was so confused
January 29, 2018 at 8:31 pm #61727@sarah-anson WOAH! *falls out of chair* Now I’m intrigued: can you post Firemaster sometime? That art is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO good! What specific manga style do you draw? (i.e. shoujo, shonen, bishie, etc.)

ENFJ-T ... I think (haven't taken the quiz in awhile)January 29, 2018 at 8:36 pm #61729@jenwriter17 I’m not entirely sure about the drawing tablet; they tend to be quite expensive (the one I’m looking at is about $100), but it would be an interesting investment and it would make shading a lot easier.
Chibis are adorable and fun to draw.
Umm, okay. I just finished transferring The Hound of the Baskervilles by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (at least a couple of scenes of it) to a manga, so maybe I can post them…I dunno though.
@sarah-anson You are really good at shading…do you have any tips on shading/crosshatching/manga in general?Kapeefer 'Till We're Old and Grey!
ENFJ-T ... I think (haven't taken the quiz in awhile)January 29, 2018 at 8:41 pm #61731@jenwriter17 @dekreel Hmm… do you like these? Honestly, I’m not sure how well they turned out… all of the faces look to oval-like and the hands look weird.

January 29, 2018 at 8:52 pm #61737@dekreel Thanks! Oh… sorry! Traditional manga reads right to left, top to bottom. Hope that helps!
I learned how to draw eyes from one of my friends. Wait, no. *grins* I actually learned manga from that friend! 😀

January 29, 2018 at 8:59 pm #61740@dekreel *phew*. Agreed….
I probably have some old (probably better, actually) manga art stashed away somewhere…I might be able to post it..? (If anyone wants…)

January 30, 2018 at 11:02 am #61805@warrenluther04 Thanks so much! Firemaster is actually my novel that I’m currently writing, but I love drawing Manga so I’ll probably put some of my favorite scenes to manga. If so, I’ll definitely post them and drop you a notification.
As for my drawing style…honestly, I just started drawing Manga like a month ago, and I have no idea what any of those mean. I’ll have to look into it!
And on shading–hm…my best tips would be to A.) study pictures with lots of shadows, and learn how the shadows appear on a human face, B.) Find a manga image with lots of shading and practice drawing it, and C.), probably the most important one, learn to draw light and faces from directions. There are a lot of good online tutorials for this, like this one:
And this one…
Also, on a more of a side note, try and use soft pencils for shading. Normal pencil lead will work, but HB pencils and other such leads work wonders when it’s time to shade.
And again, keep the shading light. Don’t try and do harsh lighting on your first try, it will only end in disaster. And when you do try a harsh lighting or something if the sort, remember that you don’t always have to have a definite outline on the shadows. Sometimes suggesting a shadow works much better than actually blocking it in.
Alright, now that I’ve shared my two-cents-worth on shading, anyone have tips on hair? That is one thing I have trouble on.

January 30, 2018 at 11:17 am #61806@jenwriter17, @dekreel, @notawriter, thanks so much, guys! I actually love drawing the eyes more than anything else manga….they show so much expression!
Haha, @jenwriter17, for some reason I find boys easier to draw than girls…I think it’s because I find girl’s eyes harder to draw. They’re so big, and there’s so many highlights…girl’s eyes drive me nuts.
