I'm a Kapeefer 'TIL WE'RE OLD AND GREY!
www.jennaterese.comJanuary 24, 2018 at 7:08 pm #61278@jenwriter17 I can draw a little bit in a manga style. Typically, I tend to lean more towards a semi-realistic style, but I did start out with a manga style. Here’s a little something that I did recently.
"For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind."

I can’t believe I found so many Christian people that love manga in the same place. This is epic. @jenwriter17, I’ve been doing manga for a while now, and would LOVE to someday publish a graphic novel of my WIP(because there is WAY to little good manga out there and we need to contribute).
Anyways, here’s some manga art I did for my WIP novel, called Firemaster.

January 24, 2018 at 9:22 pm #61291@sarah-anson Those are really good. (It is VERY hard to find good ones. I did find some that are adaptions of classics. The series is Manga classics, published by Udon. So.)
@dekreel Yes I like Manga. Perhaps I shall post some of it… Sometime.IMMA KAPEEFER! Til we're old and gray!
January 24, 2018 at 9:54 pm #61294These are all really great, guys!
I have a question for everyone in general. When you draw your manga characters, what is your process?
I typically draw a “dummy,” basically a form that looks like a naked mannequin (with no detail, just the body shape) in the pose I want, then I add the clothes over that, which I find helps let the “fabric” fall more naturally, since I know where the body is to drape over. Then I erase any “invisible” lines (ones that would be covered by the clothes) and go over the visible parts with more detail (adding fingers to hands, etc). I typically do the face and hair last, I think.

January 24, 2018 at 10:11 pm #61298@sarah-anson Ohh, those are SO cool!! you should do an amine X)
You can pronounce it however you want.
January 25, 2018 at 12:33 pm #61316@perfectfifths, I do mine about the same. Save I start from a ball-jointed stick figure, and then add muscles, and details. Clothes and facial details go on last, along with any accessories(like a sword).
@dekreel, manga and anime are technique the same thing. Manga is just the comics, where as anime is the TV shows and movies. So basically, if you draw manga, you draw anime to. 😉
@catwing I’ll have to go check those out!!~Sarah

January 25, 2018 at 2:45 pm #61335@sarah-anson I know the difference between manga and anime
But seriously, you should animate your drawings, and make an anime show!!
@perfectfifths I draw the head first, then I do a “nude sketch” of the body and posture (obviously undetailed), and then do the clothing form there.- This reply was modified 6 years, 10 months ago by Joy.

January 25, 2018 at 7:21 pm #61360@dekreel Oh yeah, I usually do the head first too, to get a general idea of the size, but because my proportions are usually off, the head size usually ends up changing.
@sarah-anson That is how I’d like to draw my manga. How do you do that?? 😀Currently reading Les Miserables
January 25, 2018 at 7:36 pm #61361@perfectfifths That happens with me, too. Do you ever have to adjust the chin or jaw because it doesn’t line up with the nose or mouth? I have to do that all the time!
You can pronounce it however you want.
January 25, 2018 at 7:50 pm #61365@dekreel Probably. I’d just move the face though, if everything else about the head is all right. Oftentimes the neck doesn’t like up right on the head. XD I’m also not very good at profiles, though I’m working on that, and I don’t think my characters are as expressive as they could be. 😛

January 25, 2018 at 8:01 pm #61367@perfectfifths You mean the neck is always bent…?
I discovered that if you want to make your characters more expressive, focus on the eyes. The eyelids, the shape, the pupils, the eyebrows, everything. For example, I discovered that if you want your character to look excited, happy, or even scared, the pupils need to be fairly small, and they should not be touching the upper eyelid.

January 25, 2018 at 8:06 pm #61370@dekreel No, I mean if I have to re-draw the head (because the neck is “attached” to the body), sometimes I don’t draw it on in the right place and it’s not centred or something.
Oh, that’s some really good advice. 😀 I should do more eye practise. My other problem is I make my drawings so small, it’s often hard to do details like that.
