Here is a new poem, before I reVeAL *swishy cape* la Marcel poem…
So this one, um, I wrote it while I was asleep.
Telling the absolute truth here, I was sound asleep, and I dreamed I was in an online poetry competition, furiously counting out the syllables in the last line before submitting it. I didn’t submit in time 😞
But here it is, as well as I could remember! Please tell me if you can find any meaning behind it, because I can’t.
…
Tiger children, claws in sheaths
Velcro, cling to sweater sleeves
The Taj Mahal’s a boiled egg.

"And so I left this world just as I had entered it. Confused."
December 26, 2023 at 11:10 pm #171211December 26, 2023 at 11:15 pm #171212I shall not put this off any longer. I present: this poem. Also doesn’t have a name.
…
Cue: The Synod. Dark mass of mysteriously hooded beings, bowing towards someone.
Warrior babe, lend us your ear
May this synod divine your fear
And heed its inner beck and call
The soul which into your place fell.
As host, you breathe the frost of stars
And not a single beast dare mar
The illusion, so loved strong
That wrath averts its gaze, and long
Last time diverts its blaze to some
Who sit where angels once fell from
And laugh – may they burn swifter now
Than you. A thousand years allow
Just recompense, and all that you
Deserve will be reborn anew
And we be blessed in that glad hour
For tending to your little flower.
Cue: Marcel. Turns around, first startled, then annoyed. Taps his sneaker on the ground impatiently.
Do I look like a god to you?
I’d love to brag that it is true,
But I’m a pint-size teenager –
The saint of imagined danger.
I guard over the comics shop
And tell them politely to stop
Cancelling Issue Eighty-three!
(They flaunt creative liberty.)
Don’t most of cosmic beings need
Customized accessories?
My sneaker size is only nine.
The bus driver gives me a fine
If I leave gum under the seat
Or knock old girls into the street
With my wings – so can’t you see?
How super can I really be?

ooooohhh….. I really like your first poem, and I can really relate to parts of it, especially hide and go seek in church basements. And pill bugs… those little things are so adorable…
Oh my word wat? You wrote a poem in your sleep??! But then again maybe that’s not so crazy. I once solved a plot hole in my sleep and actually remembered it in the morning, and a few nights ago my character made a very convincing speech against human trafficking somewhere around 3 in the morning. *applauds him even though I regretted the wasted sleep later*

December 27, 2023 at 12:09 pm #171247Thank you, I had a lot of fun writing it! I used to catch a lot of pill bugs when I was little. Called them rolly-pollies. Goodness, I don’t know how to spell that XD
Oh those dreams must be so cool XD I never dream about my characters. I see yours reveal their greatest passions easily. How often do they communicate to you through your dreams? *cue mysterious music*

December 28, 2023 at 4:42 am #171351@whalekeeper my siblings and I used to call them rolly-pollies too! They’re like… armadillo bugs kinda. XD
So, I don’t have dreams with my characters in them a lot, but if I’m awake at some odd hour of the night it’s highly likely one of them will be up to some kind of mischief. What happened the other day was that my sister woke me up at like 2 and I couldn’t go back so sleep and then my characters hijacked my brain. I probably wouldn’t have been able to stop them even if I tried…. it’s like when you’re partially asleep and partially awake and you don’t have much control over where your brain is going. XD
I did dream once, a long time ago, that my character Robby was flying an A/F 16 and the engine started malfunctioning. I about had a heart attack from that one. XD He isn’t even a pilot.
December 28, 2023 at 11:09 am #171384Goodness XD That’s so fun. And yeah, crazy dreams like that always happen when you’ve woken up during the night and gone back to sleep again. Have you ever had a lucid dream?

December 28, 2023 at 11:45 am #171391I have lucid dreamed… like a few years ago. When I have dreams like that and I try to change them it usually malfunctions and the dream starts spiraling out of control. It leaves my brain and the entire dream very disoriented. I go through these phases every like 1-2 months where I have about a week of extremely vivid or extremely insane dreams. Last time that happened I dreamt that my friend was driving a skid loader full of papayas. It was really weird.
December 28, 2023 at 12:25 pm #171394December 28, 2023 at 8:03 pm #171463🤣 Love the papayas
I think I technically lucid dream all the time because I always know I’m dreaming, and always change it to my liking. Although I’m still woozy so I never think to dream about any characters. But I had a real lucid dream a while ago, where I dreamed I was in the hallway next to my bedroom. It was the realest, weirdest thing ever. All my senses worked, and I could feel space and movement and everything. It was like virtual reality.
Thx, I loved writing that one. My poetry classmates know nothing about my story but loved it nonetheless.

December 29, 2023 at 5:19 am #171530Yeah, the papaya thing was amazing.
uggh, some of the worst dreams are when you dreamt you did your school work, to the point you solve math problems in your sleep, only to wake up and realize that noooo there’s a whole day of school ahead. It’s a miserable revelation.
