      Jagger, Jackal,

When your father and mother, at the cost of their lives, save their true king and kingdom by betraying their own kind, you would expect to be viewed with respect. But what if no one remembers the sacrifice that was given? What if you are viewed as the exact opposite of what you truly are just because of what you are, a jackal. Worse of all, it’s not just you who is viewed as a traitor, but also your little sister. So when one of the most powerful members of the government seems to see beyond what you are, to who you are, and offers you a job that will keep you, but most importantly your little sister safe, you jump at the chance. But things are not what they seem, and after being betrayed by those you trusted, used as a tool for their own evil plans, and turned into a hateful broken mess, you must flee for your life to a desolate land. Alone. A land where the remainder of your own kind reside, and are waiting for the day when they will once again rise in power and destroy the creatures who defeated them the first time. Could you forgive those who hurt you? Could you save their lives like your parents?

      Henson Blackshield, Lion

Though you have never known your true family, it hasn’t been too much of a problem. An old knight and a whole village have basically adopted you as their son, and now, after spending almost your entire life in the Chert Mountains, you are finally getting to go with a bunch of your friends and “relatives” in a grand merchanting expedition. The plan is to travel throughout most of the main cities and come back laden down with the bounty you all have acquired. But once you leave your normal surroundings you are suddenly awakened to the division and distrust that has festered throughout the land for almost 15 years, ever since the king tragically died and the country broke up into many small pieces. Something odd is also happening on your trip. For some reason YOU are being introduced to individuals with power, and are being very closely guarded? Could it have something to do with the fact that your true family might actually be out there somewhere. At least you are getting to meet some very interesting and unique (Humorous) creatures along your journey.

      Braxton Redoak, Fox

Though you may never be as smart as your best friend Henson, or as big as your second best friend Kent (He’s as big as Henson and he’s just a leopard!), you do plan to become something great…ish. At least the bar isn’t raised too high. With seven sisters and your father the chieftain of your small tribe, your just expected to live long enough to take your father place when he’s dead, have kids to carry on the family name to take your place when you’re dead, and perhaps if it wouldn’t be too much to ask, figure out a way to keep your tribe safe when your leader from the occasional lone wolf who decided to rob the village. But apparently these goals are harder to accomplish than it would seem, starting with the first one, because it appears that when it comes to fighting, you may be good, deadly good. You tend to get lost in the course of the battle, but when this happens the pawn turns into a queen and you become something, someone. It will take a lot of training, sweat, and perhaps the actional tears, but you plan not to be just another name on the list of the Chert Tribe Chieftains. You will be remembered. But when your world gets turned upside down by the death of a close friend, and you suddenly realize that battle is not a game and those you fight are not just pieces, what will become of your dream? Can you, or should you, kill those who have actual families and friends who will miss them when they are gone. What if they are threatening your life, or the lives of your loved ones?

      Slate Protector, Jaguar

Jaguars haven’t been known to be very caring creatures throughout history. They look out for only themselves and stand by and watch as creatures tear each other apart. It doesn’t matter. As long as it doesn’t affect the jaguar in the trees. But this all changed about six score years ago, when a jaguar named Halfpaw with his wife and six children changed the course of a war by getting involved. Ever since then the descendants of this family have made it a point to get involved, and when jaguar gets involved fur flies. They were named the Protectors, and given authority to rebuke kings. You are from this line, and are known as High Sheriff, Protector and Guardian of Miska. Or at least, that was your name. You were best friends with King Ander and his wife Queen Purity. You would have given your life for either of them, and yet, they both died. You were charged to bring those responsible for the death of your friends to justice, but what was justice in this case, and who were guilty? In trying to bring to justice those who you thought had committed the crime, were you blinded by pain and anger and forgot to actually be just? Now stamped the Black Death, and having lost almost all of your authority, the blinders are finally removed and you see the truth, but what a mess you’ve made. Is there any way to make the wrong, your wrong, right? To ever be forgiven by a people you and your brother unjustly slaughtered? Perhaps jaguars do only think about themselves.

You will love what you spend time with.
