      Paul and Temira’s relationship is just *chef’s kiss* 😍😍 I’ll probably write their story after finishing the first few Russell & Eliza books, though!

        There’s some really cool ideas here!

        One idea I actually just had earlier today was basically to combine the general religious view of creation and the more nihilistic view. So the idea is where God/gods/divine-beings of this universe come to the entropic system of reality and place spirits they created in it. So far I don’t think this is unlike how God has placed us here. Where things begin to change is that the entropic system is in fact capable of creating something that resembles life without divine influence, however while it can create something physical, it obviously is not conscious nor able to grant any form of self awareness to anything that begins to form, thus leading to entities that could resemble life, but have no soul, being complete products of entropy. As entropic beings, if they gain any desire, it will be self destructive and externally destructive. So they would basically be some form of evil, or at least chaos that would taint the world created by said God/gods/divine-beings, not by intention or will, but sheer probability of chaos. This would get into a lot of darker themes, and it may be making fun of the idea of nihilism pretty much, but it could be interesting and would lead to some interesting discussion.

        He is perfect in Justice, yet He is perfect in Mercy, even when we fail Him. For this, He is good.

          Ah! I believe we talked about nihilism in Sunday school class this last week. I remember one of the guys was confused concerning the difference between existentialism and nihilism, and I was like, “all you need to know is that existentialism is the more emotional of the two twins.” XD

          I like the idea of an entropic reality. It would be hard to envision, however, because using any element from this world would suggest some sort of deliberate intent, even if it be microscopic. How would you go about creating this universe?

          By the way, do you have any recommendations for books on philosophy? Something that gives a big picture look at how all the philosophies are connected over history, or just an index (like an encyclopedia or something)? My Sunday school teacher will be sending out a list of his favorite books delving into this topic, but I’m a little impatient. Plus I want to do research on this to broaden my world-building arsenal, if you know what I mean.

              @hybridlore

              Awesome!

              One of the things I was thinking about was them changing the name of the planet Mars to Ares- basically from Roman mythology to Greek mythology. Plus, I just thought it sounded cool XDXD

              So, another character I was thinking of adding is a leader of the group of people left on earth. I’m probably going to name him Dexton Armanyl, but he needs a good backstory, as there will only be a few characters really focused on in the seires… any thoughts???

              On top of that, I need a villain. Most likely whoever wants to get Reiyna back. I kind of already have a backstory for him (a very loose one anyway), but he doesn’t have a name yet. Would you happen to have any ideas? The only thing is I wanted the names to sound somewhat futuristic.

              Follow your heart, but take your brain with you.

                @kyronthearcanin

                Me too!! XD So . . I think if you were going to change the planet’s name, I would just set the story on a new planet -although I haven’t seen many futuristic planet renamed stories, so you’ve got that going for you 🀣

                I just think it might be more confusing for readers to be like -wait, the story’s on Mars? But they changed Mars?? Why did they change it??

                But this worked well in the Lunar Chronicles when the moon became a colony and was named Luna, so maybe if you had the people who lived there change the name, that would work better? Sorry lol maybe that’s what you meant in the first place πŸ˜†

                I would look up the meanings of Mars and Ares (maybe you already did) and see if there’s a reason they would change the name . . . I really should look it up but I don’t want to lose my post 🀣 For example (is Mars the god of war?) Maybe the government there wants peace, and so they change it –sorry I’m just rambling here because I have no idea what they mean πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

                Lol, just realized in your story there is a war 🀣🀣🀣 So completely ignore those references πŸ˜‚ (but hopefully you got what I was trying to say)

                Love that name 🀣 So is he going to be kind of good, bad, or in between?? I would assume he is on the bad side because Mars wants the prisoners? But he could be good or kind of gray πŸ™‚

                Is his point of view going to be focused on or just his character??

                And last thing . . . umm xD I can give you some suggestions, but names are hard for me too 🀣 So you might want to tag someone else too.

                Sorry πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ The only ones I could find in my notes that seemed to maybe work were Kedron (which means shady and dark) or Rand. Don’t know what the last one means 🀣🀣

                Ok I hope this helped!! I’m off to eat rq but I’ll be back soon if you want to keep throwing ideas out πŸ™‚

                  @hybridlore

                  Yeah, that makes sense. One of my reasons was that the new government was trying to separate themselves from Earth, even the name given to their planet from Earth. So yeah, the people on Earth could still call it Mars… That sounds good XD

                  Yes, Mars and Ares are the greek and roman gods of war. They’re like two sides of the same page, is my reasoning.

                  Dexton is actually good- he’s against Mars, but not against Leo and Reiyna.

                  And oooh… I actually might use Kedron. That sounds really cool!

                  And yeah I also have to go rn to fold laundry… I might shoot some more ideas your way later. πŸ˜‰

                      @whalekeeper

                      Yep, pretty much XD

                      Well, the thing is by my understanding we do live in an entropic universe already. I just don’t think that a fully entropic reality is enough to create something alive, or at least sentient. God still created the Universe as we understand it, and placed us in it, but He allows the universe itself to still be entropic as we observe it to be. We as beings with free will can resist the natural-man/entropy however. A fully entropic reality wouldn’t have to display intent, because it is pure chaos and probability. This universe would just entertain the idea that by pure probability, life and perhaps even sapience, but not sentience could occur given enough time. I realize that this belief might differ from some traditional Christian understandings, but it can still be entertained as a concept at least to open discussion of the nature of God and creation.

                      As far as creating this universe, perhaps the God/gods/divine-beings would create the entropic system, or perhaps it already existed as they did, and they found it as fertile ground for creation. Anything farther back then that would just get into the causality problem. It would be interesting if there was some form of intent involved in each particle though.

                      I’m more of a mathematics person, so the majority of my philosophical understanding is in one way or another derived from that as well as the philosophy of the Gospel, and my Church in particular, so unfortunately I can’t say too much about that kind of literature. The most I can say of what I’ve read is the books that get into philosophy in their themes, but they are fictional genres. Like many of the ideas Brandon Sanderson really likes to explore. That’s from a story telling stand point and not from a scholarly standpoint though. The only real scholarly book on philosophy specifically I’m trying to read right now is Decline of the West, which gets into a lot of history, math, and politics all rounded in the same philosophical framework being discussed. I’m also trying to write a book myself about combining math and religion, and there is some history I’ve studied concerning ontological arguments and other ideas, but not too much actual literature yet. I wish I could be more helpful here. I do know what you mean for expanding your worldbuilding horizons though, there’s a lot to explore philosophically in that regard.

                          You’re soo welcome!!! 😁 I love the idea of biblical fiction + fantasy -I’ve never heard of it before!!

                          I would just be worried about keeping it biblically accurate or misinterpreting/twisting it πŸ€” I actually googled it and got @joy-calle’s article on KP 🀣🀣

                          But hopefully you’d be able to write it without that πŸ™‚ and still honoring Him.

                              @everyone-XD

                              So, my brother and I came up with this idea a while back for a book. (We planned to co-author it buuuuttt…. Not sure when that will happen πŸ˜‚) We haven’t developed it in much detail, but the main gist is that two siblings are superheroes and as they fight the villain/as the story progresses (see, not very developed XD), their typical sibling rivalry becomes more than joking around. That rivalry grows and becomes one of the main conflicts throughout the story.

                              (Talking about this really makes me want to start writing it 😁)

                              Here’s the book moodboard, and then I’ll share the MCs moodboards!
