Y’all know how much I love historical fiction, and this isn’t something to say/announce that I’ve stopped writing it. I still have a lot of plans for HF, and Leon/Riker’s 3rd book is still a project I’m working on.
However.
I have a new idea that has completely stolen my imagination and heart, and I’m already finding myself very passionate about it. (for multiple reasons)
It’s exactly what I’ve always wanted to see/read/have in the fantasy genre, and this idea honestly just…I don’t know how to say it other than I’m just completely obsessed/enraptured with it. (we’ll see how long that lasts, but I’m currently in the plotting/world building stage, which is further then I’ve ever gotten with a story that’s not a fanfic or historical)
anywho, this is a brief thing about it and then what it would include/tropes/etc.

Do you know Blades of Acktar by Patricia Mingerik? (hopefully I spelled her last name right)
From what you described, it sounds like it might be similar in some ways to that series (great series by the way. She wrote a wonderful fantasy world without magic)

I’m curious, what does a no magic fantasy look like? Does that just mean it’s set in a different world? Or that it’s medieval era inspired?

I don’t hate all magic in fantasy, but yeah most fantasy depends on some form of magic to work and it’s cool to see one that doesn’t.
