Someone – I don’t recall who or where? – asked me if I was British. To that random writer, thank you for the compliment 😍 I am not British, although that would be cool. I do use a lot of British lingo, though. Yes, I call my mum “mum,” among other words which are constantly spell-checked in my American based documents. 😕 I think I learned all the words from the British literature I was raised on. 😉
As for an accent? I have a Midwestern way of processing grammar, and occasionally a Southern tilt when I’m over enthusiastic? You know, the double vowels that feel warm in your throat. I also use weird shortcuts, like ain’t, nothin, y’all, and cut off the end of all my words if I’m jabbering like lightning, so you can barely understand.
It’s weird. Sometimes my words sound like an academic college student, and sometimes like Huckleberry Finn. Guess it comes from changing communities.
