      Hello Everyone,

If I haven’t tagged someone yet, please do so. This post is for everyone to see.

And please, please, please let me know your thoughts and if you think we should proceed with this.

As some of you know, I have been working on a prototype for a Christian Writer’s Website to replace Kingdom Pen. Please check out a presentation of the whole thing and some additional info here: (May contain face reveal)

@linus-smallprint I genuinely apologize if this sounds weird, but you LOOK like the kinda guy to write Christian animal-people fantasies. And you sound like it too.

but yeah I can’t wait to see how it’s going!!

is it weird that you look and sound the way I always pictured? (minus the beard. lol)

I skimmed the video. I’m busy this afternoon but will look into it tomorrow morning.

Moderating is something I would 100% be open to doing and actually was going to ask you about. I’m not suuupppeeerrr tech savy, more of a “lets try things until the laptop explodes or I get what I want, lol) but I would be willing to learn that part. The people side is what I was thinking of. I would be more than happy to chat with people, to keep an eye on things, to let people on, etc. And I’m not afraid to address issues. (not sure if that’s a good thing or not, but confrontation never bothered me. lol) The other thing is I actually do have the time for this. I’ll be most active between 5:00 AM and 12:00 noon, give or take, and less in the afternoons/evening, which might actually be a good balance because most people I know have more time then. But yeah, I’d actually love to moderate.

Like I said, I will watch the whole video straight through tomorrow and give you more of my thoughts.

On the subject of art showing up on google searches: I’ve had that happen to me twice actually!!

One time I searched up “star wars dragon” and about twenty or thirty results down was a result from KP–an intro post I’d made showing off my fan art of Obi-Wan Kenobi as a dragon-humanoid. A different time I looked up “digitigrade leg reference” and found my Stack Exchange question on the problem of digitigrade legs and stairs, complete with the image I’d used, one of my drawings of my creatures.

While it was more funny to me than anything, I can 100% see why it’d be a problem in most other situations.

Not entirely. I have posted a link to my portfolio website on Kingdom Pen before that featured a photo of me without a beard, so you might have seen that.

Moderating is something I would 100% be open to doing and actually was going to ask you about.

Sounds great! I will put you down as a possible moderator.

The moderator will probably be given different tasks. Most of the more technical stuff would probably come down to me, especially at the beginning.

While it is important for the moderators to have time, I was thinking more of 1-2 hours a day (excluding Sunday). This isn’t a job; it is just something we need to do to keep the site alive and active. If we find there isn’t enough to keep up with in that time, we can always look for more moderators. I’m thinking 4-5 moderators would be a good place to start.

                      Thank you!

You just made my day. I’m literally laughing and crying. I’m only two minutes in, and what cracks me up is your pronunciation of Wyoh is priceless!!!! As the one who named our KP ghost, I can say it’s pronounced WHY-Oh. It’s actually short for the human name Wyoming, a character from the bookĀ The Moon is a Harsh Mistress. I was obsessed with the shortened name when Wyoh reigned even more supreme than now. That was before you joined, but believe me, once we couldn’t access the Recent Topics page for a month, no pictures, eaten posts, duplicated posts, extreme lag, the works. Seriously, if you just ask @savannah_grace2009 I’m sure she could give you an entire rant about Wyoh’s antics, Highscribe too.

Also, was not expecting the beard. It suits you though.

And the dog images are priceless!!!!!

I’ll post later with more updates as I watch this extremely amusing and well-made presentation (well done, quadruple gold stars)

Thanks so much for putting together this presentation. It was really helpful and organized. (And amusing. I was cracking up at your attempt to pronounce Wyoh)

I would probably be willing to be a moderator, but my life is somewhat hectic right now, so I’m not sure how much energy I’d be able to give. KP is really important to me though, so I would like to help however I can. I can help with design and things too. I also maybe could help paying for a domain and stuff after I get a job, but I’m not sure.

One question I did have though is are we going to do the same thing as kp and have an age limit for the website? (I think it’s 25 or something?)

                                @linus-smallprint

This is looking really good!! The presentation was super helpful and explained things clearly.

I totally didn’t think about having to purchase a domain name! I’m glad you brought that up.

A couple features of the prototype I particularly love: the account profile set-up; the Projects section and the ability to comment on individual chapters!; being able to reply directly to a post; and the book store.

As for helping get this up and running, I’d love to help with the visuals and media side of things (think—designing the home page, choosing graphics for different pages and blog posts, choosing fonts, etc.). I could even put together a few moodboards of different vibes for this new website so we can all discuss which one we like the best!

I’d also be interested in being a moderator if that’s needed, but not to the extent of keeping an eye on the posts and ā€œconfronting peopleā€ as Ellette put it. XD I’d rather just focus on reviewing people’s profiles before they’re allowed to join, being one who responds to the contact form, etc. Something that’s a little less of a consistent time commitment if that makes sense.

And… I had to say it… I agree with everyone else… You do look the way I expected you to. ?

Maybe an obvious question–and I haven’t watched the whole presentation, yet, so I apologize if it was already covered–but why not just… put this “I’d be willing to moderate!” effort toward increasing the team of Kingdom Pen? Why not volunteer here instead of splitting the user-base, if there’s really loyalty toward Kingdom Pen and wanting to keep it going?

I know it was mentioned that the mods weren’t responsive to outreach, so maybe this has already been attempted and hasn’t gone anywhere? But this would be my biggest pause when it comes to starting something new. I’ve seen so much of a habit of Christian writing groups like this splitting off to start new things instead of investing in making the current thing what they would like it to be (some of which is valid, but a lot of which is just hair-splitting in many cases), so I would just want to make sure that the possibility of strengthening Kingdom Pen has been fully explored before folks jump into starting something totally separate.
