Okay, quick question…
Do you think it’s cheesy to have the villain eventually be set free from their ways and then fall in love and marry the protagonist?

February 6, 2023 at 2:24 pm #131855If you pull it off in an interesting, believable way I think it could be quite the opposite of cheesy. It all comes down to how you execute it.
February 6, 2023 at 3:13 pm #131866Pretty much what Kathleen said. I think if itβs done right any trope can become enjoyable or even awesome.

February 6, 2023 at 3:18 pm #131869That actually sounds really awesome! π Iβd love to read something like that! Just like Kathleen said, if you are able to pull it off right, (as in make it realistic) then I think it would be really interesting!

Do y’all have some tips for ways to pull it off?

First and foremost, make him (the villain) realistic and relatable. (Weβre sort of discussing that on the βWhat Makes a Good Villain?β forum). If heβs believable and relatable, then itβs going to seem so much less cheesy when we see him fall in love with the protagonist.
Now, I donβt know how youβre planning to or already are writing this story, but if you write in omniscient third person (I think thatβs what itβs called) then maybe throughout the book or series, we can catch glimpses of his mindset and maybe even a few positive thoughts of his towards the protagonist.
Hope that helps! π

@euodia-vision. Ooh…I like the sound of it…πππππ
February 8, 2023 at 9:00 pm #132334I think it would work best to do 3rd person limited with some chapters from the villain’s POV but then again I’m a big fan of multi-narrative fiction.
February 9, 2023 at 11:03 am #132364Oooh thanks for those tips! I shall have to check out this villain forum. XD (there are so many forums it’s overwhelming trying to decide which ones to stay on XD) At the moment I’m planning on third-person omniscient so I shall make a note to add that! Thanks, Esther!
