Who Am I?

By Sarah Susanna Rhomberg

I am a girl.

I am a sister.

I am a daughter.

I am a tea-drinker.

I am a morning-person.

I am a children-lover.

I am a dreamer.

I am a reader.

I am a writer.

But truly, I am nothing.

I am a fleeting morning mist.

I am here one day and gone the next.

I am nothing but a flower that blooms only to die.

And yet, despite

My tininess, my nothingness, my fleetingness,

Someone cared.

Someone took me

That tiny speck of dust

In this great universe.

The One who made me

The One who breathed life into me

The One who alone is

He reached out to me

Broken, lost

And made me His.

Now, I stand redeemed.

I stand with purpose.

I stand as His.

It is only in Him

That I am who I am:

Sarah.
