Whenever I begin my stories, I like to build a sense of intrigue. Ending the first part in a mystery or subtle cliffhanger that’ll make the reader want to read/find out more.

Joseph Darkgrate replied to the topic PRAYER REQUESTS #2 in the forum General Writing Discussions 6 years, 11 months ago
Hey, guys. Praying for you ALL! (too many tags to count.. :p )
Anyways, my dad recently got laid off, so if you guys could pray for him to get a new job soon, that’d be great!
Also, my family is going to visit some friends. (They’re part of a ministry you guys might know).
Please pray that my family will get there safely and that things will go…[Read more]

Nope, the whole scene there was supposed to connect to something, but I didn’t post that part. I don’t really do scenes like that for no reasons.

I put some thought into it, and I came to this conclusion:
Darkness and things like that, (that’s not over-the-top-described), are acceptable in a story IF it is clearly portrayed the Darkness and the Light. Basically, writing for God or something like that?
The theme of The Hole In the Brick wall is superheroes, but the moral is sort of the q…[Read more]

Awesome topic! We have something just like it on another forums I go to! 😀
Anyways, I don’t really have time to read through everything, but I hope you don’t mind if I join right in.
Is it okay if we quote famous people too? Or is this just movies and TV? Either way, I’ve got a lot of awesome quote from my favorite characters. Mostly…[Read more]

Joseph Darkgrate replied to the topic Character Naming Help!! in the forum Characters 6 years, 11 months ago
I think that Camille, Raphael, and Kenneth are the best. I mean, it just makes sense in my mind that robots posing to be normal people would have less conspicuous names. Not that they aren’t good or anything, I think that the other options are great, but I don’t think that they fit the hiding robots well.

Hey, guys. Here’s another question. It’s not the same thing, but to reduce spam and unnecessary posts (which the other forums I’m a part of is very big on), I’ll just keep it here.
Anyways, I know that it’s fine to add darker elements to stories to make them more realistic. (not cursing though, 😉 ), but what, exactly, would be the limit or t…[Read more]

That sounds okay, but I’m not sure how to do that since the book is written in first person.

Hey, guys. I’ve got a QUESTION.
Okay, so basically, in one of my stories the main character (who is sort of an antihero), is I guess “rough-around-the-edges”.Anyways, the problem is this:Â I want to portray him as the hardened-heart guy who’s been through so much, but is still fighting for good. Unfortunately, he’s bitter and well, darker b…[Read more]

A huge apology to anyone who gets that reference and is re-traumatized.Anyways, it’s been some time since I’ve been here, and it’s not like I have any more than I used to, but I decided that it was primetime to start writing my dues. Okay, so yeah. I’ve…[Read more]
