Like @audrey-caylin said, the biggest thing you can do to build your base and bring people to your blog is comment and build relationships with other bloggers. I’ve had to do that myself.
Unexpected… Actually, the main thing that I didn’t expect was how much I’ve enjoyed it. There’s not much that I haven’t liked so far. But you…[Read more]

Snapper replied to the topic Does This Style Make Any Sense? in the forum Short Story Critiques 8 years, 1 month ago
@rochellaine AH! I love the plotline. I really want to know what happens. Like really. Write more now.
The only things I think you need to do is add some paragraph breaks–those make it easier to read. And try to use the word ‘so’ less. It’s alright to use it with this guys style, but a bit less would be better.
It’s also a bit fast-paced. If…[Read more]

@jenwriter17 I haven’t really read modern dystopia, but I do get the impression that it has lost something it used to have. Namely, all the early dystopias were prophesies. The authors looked at the culture around them and, knowing what they did of mankind, civilization, and technology, they constructed a model of the future that they thought was…[Read more]

@jenwriter17 Ha. I actually have a KP Cinema video about cliches in dystopian novels coming out sometime this month. xD So a lot of my “advice” would be in there. I wouldn’t say oppressive governments are cliched because they’re required for that genre, but I would recommend studying classic dystopias like Animal Farm, Fahrenheit 451, Brave New…[Read more]

Hi,
Since you started two threads on show don’t tell, I immediately thought of you for this. It’s a bit of a big request, but it could be of real benefit to you too.
As you know, I’m working on part 2 of The Show Dont’ tell Course. Well, I’ve now got all the scripts for the lessons and all the homework written. A few people…[Read more]

@pickupyourpenandwrite That makes sense; I’ve been there as well in the past. Do you have a clear idea on what parts of your story you need to improve on?

Josiah DeGraaf replied to the topic Homework for Video 9: Theme & Story Structure in the forum Writing Assignments 8 years, 1 month ago
@sleepwalkingmk Huh. I’m not seeing anything in spam, so I’m not sure what happened on that front. :/
Either way, I like the tension between the character’s plot and thematic goals there. I’m a bit unsure, however, from what you’ve said if your plot goal is really the plot goal of your story. It seems like the protagonist stops trying to achieve…[Read more]

Yes, the other person we have from England is @theacornman unless I’m wrong. And I am never wrong.
Anywho, back to introduction. *shakes hand wildly* hi hi and doubly hi! Cozy crime sounds interesting–and funny. 😀 What’s your favorite music group?

Ike would rather…
Be painted by a realistic artist–that way his eyes wouldn’t be so big.
Tree, so that no one would sit on him.
Sky-diving, cause at least he can still breath without having to use an oxygen tank.
Learn an instrument, because only servants do cooking. (And Louise, Ike…[Read more]

@warrenluther04 Posting fan fiction is fine so long as you label it fan fiction.

@warrenluther04 Here he is! What do you think?
Cole Avis:

As for your fanfiction, I think it might be okay to post it so long as you credit that it’s based off the Star Wars Universe. 😀 If you still have concerns, I’d ask @aratrea or @daeus about that.

Daeus replied to the topic Alternatives to flashbacks? in the forum Plotting 8 years, 1 month ago
@itisastarrynight I think one big thing that makes flashbacks seem cheesy is when the chapter before the flashback ends with something like, “he remembered the time thirteen years ago when blakedy blank blank…” If you can avoid that, it should really help.

@radically-surrendered Hi! I thought I’d let you know that I tagged you for the Liebster Award on my blog. If you’ve seen it that’s fine, but one of the rules is to notify the people you tagged… so I thought I’d notify you. XD
