@emma-flournoy Here’s another option.
When your fate overwhelms you, where can you turn?

@warrioroftherealm I think it sounds fine, though it is a tiny bit rough. Fyi, I think the first two sound like high-action novels with warrior monks and lots of gut punching. The third one sounds more like a high fantasy to me. Something a little quieter, but that has really good world building. Like I said before though, the cover will affect…[Read more]

@warrioroftherealm One or three. I probably like three better, but I think it largely depends on what cover design you go with.

@emerald-flyer Makes sense. Wayne Thomas Batson’s Dark Sea Annals are probably my favorite works of Christian fantasy and he’s currently re-releasing them this month, so if you’re looking for new books in the genre, that would be my recommendation. 😉

@perfectfifths Cool; to expand that a bit, putting otherwise-unsympathetic characters in sympathetic relationships can be really crucial for building empathy between the characters and the audience. If a sympathetic character likes an otherwise-unsympathetic person, it’s easier for the audience to like that person as well, which sounds like what…[Read more]

@jessi-rae Neat; how far into the story are you?

@emma-flournoy Sold? Not very many. When it was free though, I got something like 2,000 downloads. I haven’t been promoting it really. That’s why I’m trying to revive this ad thing. I actually have time for it almost. 😉

@perfectfifths Ah; I see. Yeah, I would probably fit it into the positive arc then. Here’s a question to consider that you may find helpful: if you were going to go through and revise Sutcliffe’s book, how would you change the story/the protagonist’s character arc to make the story more enjoyable to you? I find that when I do this with books I…[Read more]

@his-instrument I think attracting classical lovers is worth losing non classical lovers.

@his-instrument Thank. Those are great suggestions.
I do, though, need to have that one liner right at the beginning. The idea is that people have a three-second attention span. They won’t read the whole synopsis unless their attention is instantly piqued. Let me see if I can make the wording work.
A story of action, adventure, and justice,…[Read more]

@kate-flournoy Yes, that’s certainly possible. When I read the new first line along with my old synopsis however, it didn’t seem to flow well. Perhaps that’s just me though. The reason I redid the general synopsis was because I wanted the first line of that paragraph to fit with the first line above it. Things kept changing from there.

Hi KeePers,
Many of you have read my novel Edwin Brook. Well, long story short, I was experimenting with running Amazon ads on the book and they were not converting. After a consultation call, I determined that I needed to change my synopsis a bit to make it clearer right from the start who the book was for. I came up with something I think will…[Read more]
