@MichaelStanton
I am going through my novel and editing around 450 words at a time. Then I am going to add in certain scenes (and edit them) to make it to 70,000 words +
I hope that the edited book will have a deeper message than the current draft, and the plot, characters, and world will be rounded better.

Wow, man. That was some great advice! Thanks a lot! I think my problem is that 1) I have a sort of lack of discipline (I am easily sidetracked by other awesome ideas..) and 2) I’m excited to move on to another project (most likely another one of my ideas…).
I can get impatient when it comes to writing. :}Jackson E.…[Read more]

Hey guys! I am currently editing my first novel to be published sometime in summer of ’17. However, the initial excitement I had has somewhat worn off, making it a HUGE task looming over my head. Got any ideas on how to become excited about it again?

Onward eastward rode they,
And folk fled them as the Face of God,
Till earth was empty, and no eye saw them,
And no ears heard them in the endless hills,
Save bird and beast baleful haunting the lonely lands.” – The Fall of Arthur, by J.R.R. Tolkien (Lines 61-66) -

I have stumbled upon a major stumbling blocks in a story I am currently editing. Here’s the problem:
The main character is an orphan, whose parents have been killed by pirates. He is taken in by a pirate hunter as an “apprentice”. The pirate hunter abuses the main character (punching him, giving him little food, etc.), yet teaches the MC how…[Read more]

@ Dragon Snapper
To be honest, I like both Ranger’s Apprentice and Brotherband, although I like Rangers a tad bit more than Brotherband (although they are both really good series).
As for Tolkien’s works, I like the films a lot. Book wise, I enjoyed both LOTR and the Hobbit, but I thought that both LOTR and the Hobbit had a LOT of traveling…[Read more]

Hey Dragon Snapper! I write in the same genres as you, and I am a big Tolkien, Lewis, and Flanagan fan as well! Ha! What a coincidence.

@ Hope Ann
Cool idea! My only question is why fire equals storms instead of heat. It would make sense if earth meant earthquakes (like what Anonymous said). Other than that, I highly suggest you use these in your story! I have some “elemental-ish” dragons in my books. 🙂
