Anybody have any advice on song writing? I have never really tried it before, and I am not very good with poetry, so…
I decided to write one. 🙂
My messages and imagery need to be stronger, but I need to keep the verses a very similar size and *sigh* possibly meter.
Ideas?

I like your profile photo. It looks like something from a Frank Peretti novel. 🙂

I agree on the magic dragon part. Not much of a fan. In my books that I’m writing (which book 1 is going to come out summer of ’17) my dragons just breathe fire and wreak havoc (no magic included).
You need to read the Peleg Chronicles. I gobbled the whole trilogy in 2 days. Great writing.

I have not read his other books besides Last of the Mohicans—but I really want to as soon as possible. They are on my to read list. 🙂 I’m sure us writers can all identify with that list.
His books are actually really clean except for the violence, which was pretty graphic. If you’re ok with that, then I highly recommend his w…[Read more]

Hawkeye hands down. Heyward was pretty cool too though. More of the average person, and therefore easier for the reader to relate to.

Yes, the end was pretty sad. 🙁
The Indian cultures and frontier adventure was probably my most favorite part of the book.A lot of people don’t like Cooper’s long, antiquated writing, but I have read a lot of old literature for school, so I’m kinda used to it.

Any fans of James Fenimore Cooper out there? He’s the guy who wrote The Last of the Mohicans. I really enjoyed that book!

I don’t know exactly what cult Paolini was raised in, but you can definitely see the occult influence in his writing.

I only read the first book. It was a good story overall, but his writing style was a bit…
different. The major thing I didn’t like about the series was how dark the magic was. I usually don’t have a problem with magic in writing if the writer does not really delve into it. After reading book 1, I felt kinda corrupted, to be honest. I have a…[Read more]

Thanks guys!
I think what I am going to use is a broadsword flanked by dragon wings on either side.
However, my character has his eyes set on the throne, so he might have a crown or something similar on his signet ring…
I’ll have to add that in.Since signet rings are used commonly in medieval and fantasy books, I invite…[Read more]

You guessed it…
There definitely are legends of this villain, and the characters are definitely familiar with them. About meeting him, the characters do have to meet him, otherwise the villain would not necessarily work for what I am trying to do. What was different about your version of this problem (with your story)?Jackson…[Read more]

Hey guys, I need some ideas for a signet ring. I can’t use a dragon’s eye or spikes of ice, since those are insignias for later villains in my books. Any useful ideas? This is for the villain who I was talking about in the Villain Reveal topic.

Haha! And this is why you don’t feed orcs chili. Does anybody have a napkin? :p
All jokes aside, the orcs speak a different language (very rarely do they speak the common tongue). I do like the message interception idea though! It could work!

My main characters need to know the villain because—at this point—they really have no idea who destroyed the castle. Maybe the King guides them in the right direction, so they know where this villain is, but they don’t know who he is. This villain is ancient, and is the second in command of the evil presence in the world (Satan). He is ver…[Read more]

Alright guys—ready for another question?? 🙂
My main villain has never seen the main character before, and lives in an old abandoned fortress deep in the mountains. My main characters have been on this guy’s trail for some time (unknowingly), because he destroyed a place special to the main characters with dragons. The only evil they have come i…[Read more] - Load More
@warrioroftherealm Come to think of it. You’re right. I just thought that Cap vs. Iron Man doesn’t fit the type of fiction I write. Thus . . . guy standing over dead body in the middle of the night.
