I’m still here… I’m just not great with fighting scenes, but Kari is currently with Carrie and Silas.

Welcome to KP! I’m Janessa, aka Trailblazer. I write mostly contemporary/historical fiction, with a smattering of mystery and journalism. I also enjoy hiking and photography.
And a couple questions:
Since you like to write fantasy, is it safe to assume that is also your favorite genre to read?
What is one thing God did in…[Read more]

Wow, where do I even begin on this question. I’ve grown spiritually this year more than ever before. I think the biggest thing God has done for me this year was give me a healthier perspective on enjoying things in a godly way. I have trouble keeping my hobbies from consuming my thoughts, and I constantly worry that I’m putting the…

Yeah, I prefer historical or contemporary fiction, but it’s so hard to find books in those genres that aren’t filled with romance. Historical fiction is a little easier than contemporary, just because there are historical events to focus on, and I feel like contemporary struggles to find other things to focus on.

I see you’ve already been asked a number of questions and I can’t think of anything else right now. Nice to meet you!

@mineralizedwritings @whalekeeper
Sorry for butting into your conversation again! I feel this so much though…
I like romances that emphasize the friendships more, and show attraction based on complementing character traits, less of the physical stuff. Ok, let me rant for a minute 😂 I can never find a clean and well written book. LIKE…

Oh my word, I didn’t even realize I had this story on my laptop! This is from wayyyy back- I think it was the first story I ever wrote, when I was like six or seven? I roped in my younger brothers so you can thank one of them for the name “Gummy”.
My idea of a chapter was essentially a paragraph.
Chapter one
The three kids
One day three…[Read more]

I have a folder on my laptop marked “old stuff” and I can assure there will be something cringy in there. Let me go digging for a minute!

Huh, that’s interesting. I guess it gives your other teeth a little more space, though. I had to have a couple teeth pulled when I was little because my mouth was so crowded, but then the adult teeth still came through so it didn’t really solve the problem, lol. I guess it just made it easier for them to give me braces.

Which teeth did you have to get pulled?

I CAN’T FEEL MY FACCCCCCCEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i just got two teeth pulled…..AHHHHHHH!
Oof I hate that! When I had my wisdom teeth removed my whole face was numb, and then I could barely open my mouth because apparently they cut through the muscles. It took like two weeks of slo…[Read more]

Trailblazer replied to the topic Critiques for a short story I wrote? in the forum Short Story Critiques 11 months ago
Overall, it’s pretty good! Like Jonas said, I figured out right away who the king was, and I also recognized the allegorical elements pretty quickly, but I don’t think that’s a bad thing.
I also agree that the ending (as it was in your first post) was pretty abrupt and confusing. I think the changes you made helped!
The last thing…[Read more]

My grandparents used to give ornaments to each of us grandkids every year! They stopped once we reached a certain age, and started giving us money instead. I liked getting ornaments but it did fill up our tree lol.

I used to not be super emotional but then probably about three years ago that changed and now books and movies make me cry a lot faster than they used to.

Trailblazer replied to the topic The Chat Chat in the forum General Writing Discussions 11 months ago
I almost cried.
I didn’t let myself, because I’m sitting in the same room as the rest of my family right now, but I probably would’ve shed some tears if I was alone.
It drew me in really well, and I usually don’t like books that are super sad, but sometimes pain and tragedy make the good parts of the book even better. Now if…[Read more]

Did you ever get anything else written for the story you started about your summer? Or was that one of those ideas that just sort of fazed off?
