@theacornman I know it’s been a while (like a year lol) and idk if you’re even still on here, but if you (or any other UK/Brit) are still interested I can send you my book now. It’s still not finished, but most of her storyline is covered.

@valtmy I guess “sprawling epic” would be a good phrase to describe my series, yes.
Be clear on who your main characters, supporting characters and minor characters are and which of them you plan to give their own “arc” or “story thread”.
Ah, yes. That gives me an idea of what I need to do. I appreciate all the advice, it is very helpful. 🙂

Hey guys! So I’m going to reuse an OLD thread and post my updated story snippet for you guys to critique. To make it clear, this is my Doctor Who fan novella. You don’t have to be a Whovian to read it. I’m excited about it because I recently started changing it to first person instead of third. Here is what I have so far!

@pickupyourpenandwrite Greetings and welcome to the bestest place in cyberspace!!! 😀 😀
England!! Oooooooooh. As far as I know @theacornman is the only other English person here. Where in England are you from, if I may ask?
Your story actually sounds a lot like a children’s series I tried to write when I was thirteen, except less mystery…[Read more]

Yes, the other person we have from England is @theacornman unless I’m wrong. And I am never wrong.
Anywho, back to introduction. *shakes hand wildly* hi hi and doubly hi! Cozy crime sounds interesting–and funny. 😀 What’s your favorite music group?

Hi, everyone!
I’m looking for input on character consistency. In every story (long or short) that I write, I like to have a character who’s generally optimistic and lighthearted, and who sometimes even provides the comic relief. However, a lot of my story plots tend to get more and more intense as they go. Does anybody have any advice for keeping…[Read more]

My deepest apologies to @Stan and @Dragon-snapper. Let me clarify: the only dragons I want to kill are the evil ones. 😛
Thank you so much, everyone, this is extremely helpful!!!
@Theacornman The dragons in my story are pretty big; like, maybe roughly three times the size of a workhorse? I should probably make them smaller, though, so they can…[Read more]

@alia They could all just start with the same letter. Or I liked what @theacornman said about the names being colors. Or maybe they could all be nouns like Faith, Hope, Mercy, etc….?

@theacornman Thank you so much!
Are there certain common words Americans use that English would say differently?
How much should I make my character use these? Her parents were American, but she grew up in England.
