Oh yes. It’s the question you asked yourself about intelligence vs. ignorance to narrow down the field— in essence, is intelligence better than ignorance? And if so, why?
We had several answers, only one of them correct. Giving all the characters different and conflicting EiLs on this subject and showing how they all turn out is how you make the…[Read more] -

All right Elizabeth.
After the Inciting Incident we have our First Plot Point. What happens here is basically that Kara commits to follow through with what the Inciting Incident set in motion, instead of lapsing back into her former apathy.
She decides that change is in order and sets out to figure out what exactly she needs to do.
What will…[Read more] -

And yes, @Kina-Lamb, this—
I think sometimes when I think “introvert,” I think of people that don’t talk except inside their heads and to themselves, and blush whenever you look at them or talk to them because they’re so nervous. But that isn’t the case usually. Am I right introverts?
is correctly supposed to be erroneous. *grins* Introvert…[Read more]

@That_Writer_Girl_99 yes ma’am. You do. *thumbs up* Good work.
The human intuition is a marvelous thing. 😉 A lot of the learning associated with writing, in my experience, is just learning the names of things your intuition already understands.
I know EXACTLY what you mean with the utensil metaphor— great way to describe it! lolAs for…[Read more]

@Dragon-Snapper if you’re in this much of a quandary, experiment. I’ve only ever done third person and I love it and I don’t think that’ll change, but if you feel like you need to switch, try it for a chapter or two. See if you like it. If it isn’t quality, you’ll only have spent a little time to solve a quandary that could have sabotaged your…[Read more]

@That_Writer_Girl_99 *cheeky grin* Or a writer’s best friend. I guess it just depends on your perspective. 😉
Did you? I’m not seeing it…

@Dragon-Snapper WOW THERE REALLY ARE A LOT. O.O :O
And yes indeed— hope seems to be a largely forgotten ingredient in modern literature. :/ Perhaps because God is a largely forgotten ingredient as well…?
NO PUNS @HOPE.
@GracieGirl I think I’m gonna try Lor YaZari. It may be a while before I get her to you because life, but I want to try. 😉

@That_Writer_Girl_99 yes! You’re getting it! 😀
Okay Kate. Settle down. Let us be calm here.
To be totally honest, I had to learn that too. 😛 It was quite a revolution for how I’d always thought, but hey. Revolutions can be good.
The thing I most love about this way of viewing plot is that it really, really develops the characters.So—…[Read more]

@That_Writer_Girl_99 awesome! *grins* I have to say she was remarkably easy to capture on the first try. I think it’s because I already had a very firm grasp of her personality due to her well-executed voice in the snippet you shared. 😉
And— I originally saw Tam with reddish blonde hair, but now that you mention that… I can totally see it. 😀

@Dragon-Snapper wow— really? That’s… thank you! That’s a beautiful thing to say. 😀 Truth of it is, a lot of my characters are really messed up people living really messed up lives, but you’re right— even with people like that, I firmly believe there’s always hope. *grins* I guess that sort of came through unconsciously.

@Christi-Eaton I love her! I don’t have anyone that fits her, but I love the sense of personality you achieved. 😀

@That_Writer_Girl_99 I’m sorry. I should have realized you were getting overwhelmed and slowed down a bit. When I get excited it can be a bit like drinking from a water-hose. 😛 If it starts happening again just tell me. I can slow down. 😉
Of course we can talk about Kara.
But first let me answer your question about plot vs. character. Which…[Read more]

@That_Writer_Girl_99 yep! I shall be graduating this year. *grins**salutes her fellow soon-to-be-graduate*
I struggle with outlining too. But I’m going to try it in earnest with my next project to see if I can speed up some. 😛
