@dragon-snapper Hmm… Oh, here we go.
”Justice is a non-corrosive metal!”

@dragon-snapper Hey, sorry to interrupt, but I know the answer to your quote…
It’s from How to Train Your Dragon. Hiccup says it sarcastically to Astrid, Fishlegs, Snotlout, Ruffnut, and Tuffnut when they’re in the great hall after dragon training. 🙂

@ingridrd Perfect! Now I really want to read it. 😀

@ingridrd That’s actually really good. The only thing I can think of is you could be giving away too much information with James Ervin being from another world, but of course I haven’t read your story, so I don’t really know. 🙂 Oh, and technically the “he offers she and William” in the third paragraph should be “he offers William and her”. I lik…[Read more]

@introvert_girl @sam-kowal Thanks. I’ll try sticking some headers in to make it less jarring and confusing.

@daeus Okay, I just sat down to read this, and I didn’t get back up until I had finished it. Wonderful! You developed amazing character depth in a short amount of time. I hope you don’t mind free publicity, because I will be recommending this to people. Seriously, great story! 😀

Hey, people. So… In my current WIP I have one main character who is supposed to be “telling the story” (it starts out with an introduction of him talking about his and his father’s lives, and the rest of the book is him telling that story), so the parts that the MC is in are written in 1st person, while the parts of the story without him are…[Read more]

@daeus Yes! The Golden Ziggurat is one of my favorite book titles ever! And yeah, I know, don’t judge a book by its cover, but a cool cover helps. 🙂

Ben Powell replied to the topic Happy Turkey Day! in the forum General Writing Discussions 7 years ago
@dragon-snapper Happy Thanksgiving!
Many people have forgotten that Thanksgiving is a day to thank God for our blessings, but many more have forgotten the true story behind how it started. Yes, the Pilgrims had a feast with Squanto and other Indian friends, but the rest of the story is quite a bit sadder and uglier. Here is a site for anyone w…[Read more]

Oh, and while I’m here I might as well mention that I noticed that the text box for replying to forum threads covers over the header at the top of the screen when you scroll down. Not a big deal, just a small bug. 🙂

Hey, @daeus or whoever responds to these questions, is there any way to search for forum topics or threads? I have tried the search bar on the main forum page, but that only brings up individual posts. The search bar for the main website only brings up articles. It would be nice if there was a way to search for a topic and see any forum threads…[Read more]

@inkling-for-christ Welcome! That synopsis sounds really cool. It actually gave me a couple of ideas for my own book. 😀

@dekreel Great idea! But it has to be funny. 😉
So, we have two Legend of King Daeus stories and now this one… pretty soon we’ll be able to make a whole book of KP short stories! 😀

Ben Powell replied to the topic Handwriting on Touchscreens in the forum General Writing Discussions 7 years ago
@donnieclark Hmm… Well, I’ve done some handwriting-to-text on my iPad, and it worked pretty well. I just found that it was impractical for anything besides note taking. Of course, I never liked writing by hand much anyways, so maybe it’s just me. 🙂
As far as writing on a Surface, I’ve never done it but from the research I’ve done it doesn’t…[Read more]

Ben Powell replied to the topic The Rebirth Of Classical Music in the forum Music 7 years ago
@donnieclark Yes, I think that modern classical music is sometimes a bit… odd. It sometimes feels like a composer was working out a new musical “theory” and the finished piece is his “equation,” merely a collection of notes that look good on paper and are theoretical genius but musical randomness. Film scores and bands such as the Piano Guys are…[Read more]

@shannon 😀 No worries. I just finished watching your video – you guys are great! That made me want to start a band. Unfortunately, I don’t have that many siblings and it’s hard to play a song with just a cajon… 😉
