Yeah. What he said. Also, authenticity. The key to any poem is authenticity, but an un-authentic rhyming poem can get away with it because the words sound pleasant even without their meaning, but free-verse doesn’t have that.

@bluejay Well, free verse isn’t really my biggest thing, but I have written it a little. Others will probably give you some finer points (@spradlin, get over here!), but I think the biggest point is that you have to use As-Many-Metaphors-As-Possible. Thank you all for praying! He passed away last night. Please continue to keep his family in your prayers!!!

Also, if you could pray for my family, as they are doing lay offs at my dad’s work next week, and he is in a spot where he could lose his job. 🙁

I have a prayer request, a family friend was diagnosed with stage four stomach cancer five years ago. He’s outlived everyone else he knew with stage 4 cancer when he was diagnosed. Things aren’t looking to good right now, and he’s trying to hold on for his family. (He’s a Christian.) He has a four year old daughter, and a one year old baby.…[Read more]
