@seekjustice Yes, that’s what I was thinking. Thanks, I thought of it when I was reading a book about spies. There was an actual Acoustic Kitty once!
@daeus What do you think I could use monkeys for? Should they be master thieves and the spy has to catch them? It’s a very good idea, thank you so much!

Hi @seekjustice!!! Thank you for welcoming me!! I love Kingdom Pen. It has helped me so much in my writing journey. I used to have horses, yes. I showed them in rodeos. Now, I don’t, but I hope to have a couple more soon! I miss the smell of horses and leather………:) The book I’m reading right now is The Screwtape Letters…….again!:) I have…[Read more]

@seekjustice Emberlee is Harper’s best friend, so she kind of tags along with her. In the end a baby phoenix is born and Emberlee is chosen by that phoenix.

@SeekJustice Yess Homecoming was brilliant. If you can use that example to model off, you’re good to start with.

@mark-kamibaya Those ideas are pretty cool. The white tree in Gondor would have a cool story to tell!
That’s a good question about where a tree actually thinks. I was thinking maybe somewhere in its trunk… I dunno. I’ll have to think about that.@seekjustice I could always do both trees. It would be cool to compare notes! We should definitely…[Read more]

@seekjustice I was just researching famous trees from history and I found one that seemed like it would have a really cool story to tell. The tree is called Major Oak, and it is in Sherwood Forest. According to legend, it served as the hideout for Robin Hood and his Merry Men!
Now I want to do the Hiroshima Bonsai Tree and the Major Oak!Which…[Read more]

@daeus I am trying to write a vengeance plot, but I’m stuck now. I think I’m going to try writing a bunch of different plots with different trees and see which one is best.
@seekjustice I really like the Hiroshima Bonsai tree idea. I think I’ll try that one next once I research it xD

@seekjustice I would hate to spend that long in a classroom. And with people in general *shiver*

@SeekJustice The one YA book I’ve read with an older protagonist is Wayne Thomas Batson’s Sword in the Stars. Haven’t seen it done anywhere else, and have likewise read that you shouldn’t have YA protagonists much above college age. That being said, it’s also good for a protagonist to be older than the reader, since apparently younger readers find…[Read more]

(apologies for taking a while to get to this, I got halfway through my reply last night and ten got distracted and forgot about it until this morning. >.<)
@SeekJustice Very good question. (as Elizabeth mentioned) I think that it doesn’t matter the age of your character, what matters most is the realism. I can read books that have 25-year-old male…[Read more] -

@SeekJustice Great question! I just recently went through trying to figure this out myself. 🙂
I’m not sure I have a definitive answer, but I can definitely share how my reading experience differs depending on the MC’s age which may help a bit. 🙂As a reader, the MC’s age is definitely a factor when I’m deciding whether or not I buy the book or…[Read more]

@SeekJustice hey, everyone does. No biggie. 😛 I will be the first to confess that my name is cumbersome. 😉 In retrospect, I probably should have made my tag just @Kate, but oh well. (@Daeus @Rolena-Hatfield actually is there any way I can change it?)
Great question. You’ve got a lot of good answers here already, but I’ll just add my two cents…[Read more]

@seekjustice My favorite aspect of homeschooling is probably that I can make my own schedule. And also I don’t have to get up at 6:30 AM to get ready for school xD

@seekjustice There could be a lot of cool stories told by old trees. I just googled the Hiroshima Bonsai tree, and it looks like it could make a great story! Maybe that’s what I’ll do.

@seekjustice I see your problem—I’m also in the same boat. I’m writing a children’s book that has an adult protagonist. According to the 2016 Children’s Writer’s and Illustrator’s Market Guide, it is good to have your protagonist be on the oldest side your readership will allow (they recommend not going above college age for YA).
So if you can…[Read more]

@seekjustice
Great question!
First, let me try to think up a reasonable response…
…
…
Personally, I love it when the character is exactly my age, but because YA is such a broad age group, that rarely happens. From 12-18, it’s hard to find a happy medium for everyone in an age group.
So.
As far as I know, the characters I’ve read in YA have…[Read more] -

@seekjustice – This is a great question and something I’m not very knowledgeable about, but I will share a little bit just of what I’ve experienced: There’s this one book that I’ve read about 3 times. The first time I read it, the WIP was a little younger than me, but I still got a ton out of the book. The second time I read it, I realized he was…[Read more]

Thank you! (yours is pretty amazing too. I like it). I’m flying in a plane, but I’m not actually flying the plane. I do, however, fly planes when I have spare time and/or money. 😀
That’s so cool.
Even though I’m a dragon, I want to learn to fly a plane someday.
