Our anthem is quite long too, and we usually only sing the first two verses.
Well I guess its not weird…I’ve just never seen anyone do it. It just sounds awkward, trying to handshake and hug at the same time.

I saw a meme on Pinterest the other day about Aussies singing the national anthem and it was so accurate. Basically, we’re usually only asked to sing the anthem during Anzac Day or other military commemorations. We’re asked to take off our hats and stand, then we hesitantly begin to sing “Australians, let us all we rejoice for we are…[Read more]

Yes, that’s what I read. We have a much higher minimum wage here, but if you go to a nice restaurant, particularly an Asian one, there’s usually a bowl for tips on the counter. But tips are usually an indication of “You went above and beyond expected service so you deserve a little extra” and also its more like tipping the whole…[Read more]

Ha! Did you know that I was researching American culture the other day for my novel and I was reading about tips. We don’t give tips in Australia. Just a curious thing I learned.

Okay, so the basic rundown is this:
1. Prologue to You’ll Never Be Alone: Lucie comes to meet her father who has been imprisoned for her whole life and takes him home to live with her.
2. The Way It Ought to Be (London) to The Trial: introduces the character of Carton and Charles is framed for treason by Mr Barsad.
3. Reflection to…[Read more]

I think there is somewhat of a difference between teemaged rebellion and…you know a historical event called The Great Revolt. Like swords and murder. Just saying.
He did, however, knight his cook and that made me laugh. So there’s that 😛
And I’m Australian, we have an inbuilt suspicion of authority. Especially authority that…[Read more]

I return after having read through most of the Wikipedia article.
The man revolted against his own father (who granted wasn’t the greatest guy either), he abandoned England and taxed profusely in orer to pay for the crusades, including taxing the church (which no one was happy about). He, according to the article, was considered…[Read more]

What I meant was that in some version a bloke makes fun of him and then Robin shoots one of the king’s deer to show off and that in the older versions he just shoots the guy who was making fun of him.
I love Jean Valjean. 🙂
I actually said in my post on Anastasia some time ago that I wished it had been separated from real history…[Read more]

I believe there’s other versions where he kills some of the king’s deer. I used that one in a short story I wrote once.
Its still has a benevolent version of Richard. That is honestly the thing that annoys me most.
No, I don’t.

By originals I mean the ones written 800 years ago. Not that I’ve read them either. I’ve never really been into RH. He usually becomes an outlaw because he kills someone who was making fun of him. He has a temper.

Its just a fact that has always bugged me. Also the king in the original Robin Hood stories is King Edward…the second, maybe?
Just a friendly reminder… Anastasia died a horrible death and they also killed her puppy, so there we go.
Well, I’m out of ideas then. Historical facts sometimes crush my creativity.
