Yep, I wholeheartedly agree. Only God can give people true life. Our characters can never come close to that!
Goodnight…good morning. 😀 Whatever it is.

That’s so true! We’re all very different. For example, on the weekend we were visiting with a family who…have a much higher income (I would say are of a higher societal class, but that would make me sound like Jane Austen). And the differences were quite astounding, even though my family would hardly be classed as “poor”. The…[Read more]

My parents aren’t from different cultures, but they’re definitely from different subcultures. And they definitely have a lot of different views of things. 😛
Very true. What I don’t like though, is when traditions become more important than the Bible. The preacher at our church on Sunday actually mentioned this, particularly in…[Read more]

I guess its easy for me to see the Jewish traditions as silly because I’m not Jewish and I don’t think much even of Christian traditions, so I’m not really one for doing things just cause of the way things are.
Fyedka, though, is clearly labelled as an Eastern Orthodox Christian, so while Chava is definitely marrying outside her…[Read more]

Thanks for filling out the questions!
I added Chessy being adopted into the first book because I was tired of the whole “oh, wait, you’re adopted” sort of thing and I could think of no good reason why Jean wouldn’t tell her.
And yes, I wrote this as Christian fiction for a predominantly Christian audience.
What Rochellaine…[Read more]

I liked The Fiddler on the Roof, but I felt it missed a lot of potential. I honestly didn’t like Tevye that much and I wished the story revolved more around the daughters, I especially wish they’d been more closure to Chava and the girl who married the Bolshevik, who’s name I forget. I felt it just….stopped.
I actually felt the…[Read more]

Yes, exactly right. And while I won’t say things were perfect for women back then, they aren’t perfect now, and they’ve never been perfect. Every era has its failings, that doesn’t make one period better or worse, in my opinion.
I’ve heard of Abigail Adams because you’ve talked about her before. 😀 and I have listened to some of…[Read more]

I’m pretty sure I’ve had pizza with eggs on it too, but I’m not sure. I don’t know if a lot of people do it, but our family used to have a pancakes and icecream for dinner night once in a blue moon.
Maybe she just wasn’t as much into romance? I don’t remember her being as much of a romantic, but its been years since I read the…[Read more]

My family and I were just discussing we have inhibiting societal rules like not eating pizza for breakfast and Mum said they probably had breakfast pizza in America, so I thought I’d asked.
A character based on the real Laura Ingalls would be really cool! And that’s a massive pet peeve of mine as well. Girls a…[Read more]

Is it true that in America you guys have breakfast pizza??? If so, my whole view of American society has been changed for the better.
Oh yes, the average modern romance, even the Christian ones, tend to be….sketchy.
Its all right, I love listening to rants. Even though the rant wasn’t directed at me, and it was about a romance novel. 😛

You find our flirting attempts hilarious???
Oh, I remember that 😀 It was the reason I added the second window scene 😛
True…still, I think it works. Maybe.
Yep, me too. And those memories tend to torment me forever. 🙂

My predicament exactly. Except that I don’t have a lot of guy friends, so the guys I talk to tend to be casual acquaintances from youth group or friends of friends, which makes it even more awkward. when I talk to people I tend to tease them a lot, which is fine for girl friends, but as soon as its a guy then apparently you’re flirting with…[Read more]

I know right? on the rare occasions I do talk to a young man of a similar age to myself, I’ll say something and then internally go “Oh wait, was that flirting?? If so, I should probably stop because I’m terrible at it and this is super awkward…”

Don’t blame Zac. It’s just that I’m really bad at flirting.
And yes, it would have been really interesting (except my sister. of course, lives in the same house as me, so I wouldn’t dare). Also, one of the cons I had written down for the point of killing Zac was: “He wouldn’t get to be with Neva”. ?????? Why would Zac want to be w…[Read more]

Justice is only one revolutionary leader out of a large number, even if that wasn’t necessarily made clear in the first draft. Also, the revolutionary group existed before Justice came along. He just took charge because he’s the bossy sort. And can you imagine Jonas leading a revolution?
That’s true. But I thought that would be too ob…[Read more]

Fair enough. And yes, Enjolras is very much a noble character with a noble revolution, whereas Justice most definitely is not.
And yes, it would have been very interesting. I’m sure @rochellaine wishes I’d done it. 😀
haha… 😀 Can you imagine Justice saving rich people from the guillotine? 😛 Its not him.

@alia Let me repeat! I wasn’t trying to get anyone to ship anyone through the window scene. Also I’m still confused by Justice’s attempts to flirt with Chessy because all attempts for anyone to flirt with him in the first book met with zero success.
The amount of things that confuse me about my own book confuses me.

Well, Enjolras actually seems like a balanced mixture of no-nonsense, sense, briskness and actual…politeness. Justice lacks politeness. and sense. and basically everything other than revolutionary fervour.
In fairness, the original window scene was entirely a practical thing. A…[Read more]
