@dekreel It still counts though. At least, Stan says so. And he always knows his stuff
😀 Good thing you translated it. Otherwise I would be almost as lost as a caveman trying to read The Cat in the Hat

@dekreel Yep, still here
Hmm…If you TRY to turn it into a story, it counts. Even if the tale you can tell is limited
@jessi-rae Hi 🙂

I wouldn’t start off with the action right away, although you do need to start off with something interesting, and that’s because of two things. Firstly) The hardship of the protagonist being separated from her normal life and what’s dear to her (which is great, by the way) isn’t, as you said, going to be as impactful unless the…[Read more]

@xonos-darkgrate And my opinion on your excerpt is… no, I don’t think it’s too dark. Although opinions may differ

Sam Kowal replied to the topic And for "Gosh-sakes", watch your language! in the forum General Writing Discussions 6 years, 11 months ago
@xonos-darkgrate I agree with @kate-flournoy
I really dislike things that are blandly clean, and I stories that tackle dark questions and themes, but I don’t think as Christians, we should rely on swear words to drive a story forward. They can easily be implied, and we don’t need to write them directly into the story. That said, I don’t mind made…[Read more]

@dekreel I can’t even remember them all
I read so many of them
I can remember the first one with the dinos
And there was one on the moon, and one in the sea, and one in prehistoric times, and one about the Civil War and one about the revolutionary war and one about Rome and one about Egypt…
And then there the Merlin Missions, which where…[Read more]

@dekreel I was a reading monster when I was kid.
Ironically I didn’t really read that many kids books, I started with Harry Potter when I was 8, along with the Hobbit and then Eragon
When I was younger than that, I loved the Magic Treehouse. I mean LOVED them. Also, I read the Boxcar Children a little bit.
And also Narnia! How could I forget…[Read more]

@dragon-snapper You’ve already got loads of good tips so I probably can’t say much more, but all I can would say is, Yes 😀 😀
Totally have two villains, if you like
It can help make things a lot more interesting, although it can be harder to write both at once
If I were you, I really wouldn’t make one half one villain and then switch to…[Read more]

Sam Kowal replied to the topic Does it Have to be Long? in the forum Plotting 6 years, 11 months ago
@aratrea 😀 Right. I think, along with the new uncertainty around the humans actually Invading Roshar and whether its right for them to be ruling most of the lands, that’s going to be a major thematic point at least for the first five books.
And Yep, that climax with Dalinar was pretty much equally as shiver-inducing as Kaladin’s… ‘You cannot…[Read more]

@inkling-for-christ 😀 Good job! It’s a start
So, my suggestions
Cut out the repeated information) You mention three times I think that she rose up through the ranks and by eighteen was supervisor, and there are a lot of other things repeated over and over. Cut those out
Make your MC gal’s character align with her reputation) Everyone keeps…[Read more]

@aratrea 😀 I know that book!
Oathbringer was pretty mind-blowing, I thought. I was supremely satisfied with Dalinar, although I was getting angry at him in his backstory… the only thing that felt unfinished to me was the (Oathbringer spoilers for anyone randomly reading) Adolin/Sadeas conflict, it felt like it was resolved much too easily, but…[Read more]

*Stan belts off a whole list of weaknesses…* No, Stan, it’s not gonna matter in the story that I can’t keep salad dressing down, and no, that would not be cool to have the Dark Lord force feed it to me…
Ahh where was I

Epic synopsis 😀
Oh, and yeah, make my hair as blue as you like. (No, Stan, you’re not dying your tail blue too)
I’ve never really written a serious synopsis before. Maybe I’ll try one at some point and post it here.
Anyway… *throws confetti* KPA! 😀 😀
