@rochellaine @waterlily hi, could you guys help me brainstorm last names for a few? At first I was going to set my book in Japan, so I was using Japanese first and last names (but now it’s set in the USA). I think I wanna keep some of the first names, but I think I want to change the last. I’d like to come up with last names that have the same…[Read more]

@that_writer_girl_99Â Ooh, boy. Let’s try this…
Here is a little tactic for writing a compelling, and non-cliche fantasy story: Diversify your world. By all means include dragons, elves, knights, old parchments and/or a mentor or two — because those are AWESOME. But imagine how much more awesome your world would be if you added a unique…[Read more]

@ariella-newheart you’ve got some good advice from the other kapeefers.:)
personally, I think 30 characters might be a lot for a reader to keep straight in their mind, even if it is a series and stretched out over multiple books. maybe see if any characters could be combined.
on K. M. Weiland’s website, she has a couple posts about this.…[Read more]

@christianna-hellwig Greetings, and welcome to the bestistest place on the internet! (Or as I like to call it: The bestest place in Cyberspace) 😀
Ooh, music! I really want to learn violin. I can play cajon pretty well, and I can play “Take Me Out to the Ball Game” and “The Imperial March” on the piano X)
I’m glad you have decided to join us!…[Read more]

@ariella-newheart Good question! I have struggled with the exact same thing in my KPA (that’s Kapeefer Adventure, sort of like the LOKD). I guess it depends on the series: How long it is, and when and where your MC(s) are traveling. If you have to put in all your recurring characters, you could either alter the characters so they fit each scene,…[Read more]

@kaya-young Good topic idea! Let’s see…. The most recent thing I can think of is Shakespeare’s play, Richard III. I haven’t read Act 5, though, so no spoilers X)

@rochellaine okay, I like that name 🙂
I really like the title Ticket to Blueberria.
I really like your first lines. Maybe you could do it like this: once there was a boy who loved blueberries. At least, he thought he did. Oliver had never tasted one in his life. That way the MC’s name is established early, and you get to keep that awesome f…[Read more]

@kaya-young wow, this books sounds cool! *goes to check it out on Goodreads*
most of my reading lately has been for school, but…..
I just finished A Time to Die, by Nadine Brandes. (warning: mild spoilers!!!) Everyone (in the USE-United States of the East) has a clock that tells them exactly when they’re going to die. It’s not like I was…[Read more]
