Ethryndal replied to the topic I need a character name! Help! in the forum Novel Idea Critiques 7 years, 10 months ago
Oh wait, you didn’t defeat your writer’s block. You’re trying to defeat it by finding a name. Oops. I have a problem with reading things too fast. I saw @Kate-Flournoy‘s post and got my faulty information from that, so… IT’S HER FAULT, NOT MINE!!! Not to shift blame or anything… 😉

@S-G-Dewey CONFETTI AND CYBER HUGS ABOUT WRITER’S BLOCK VICTORY! Now tell me your secret. Is it chocolate? 😛
There are so many good names from the time period you’re writing about, it’s hard to narrow the list down. What letter do you think it should start with? Your character sounds like a rather militant type of person, so I would suggest…[Read more]

Ethryndal replied to the topic Quote That in the forum General Writing Discussions 7 years, 10 months ago
The Elf is hauling this thread out of the dreaded depths of page 2. And since it’s pretty safe to say that no one knows where the current quote came from, I’m going to do a new one that (hopefully) is pretty obvious.
“Sir, the possibility of successfully navigating an asteroid field is approximately 3,720 to 1!”

Ethryndal replied to the topic Discussion for Video Two: The Importance of Theme in the forum Discussion Questions 7 years, 10 months ago
@aratrea What excites me most about theme is the ability to write fiction that’s deep and meaningful, not just a ‘fun’ book that people immediately forget because they’re nothing but glue holding it together. I want to be able to touch people, to move them with my writing while being a testimony of Christ.

Ethryndal replied to the topic Plotting the interminable. in the forum General Writing Discussions 7 years, 10 months ago
@Daeus I’d love to help with this one, I really would, BUT I’m actually in the same boat. I’ve got this thing I’m planning on writing once I finish my current book, but it’s so long that I’m not sure what to do with it. So this thread ought to be pretty beneficial. And I agree with what @Jess said about middle books. They’re usually really boring,…[Read more]

Ethryndal replied to the topic Discussion for Video One: Introduction in the forum Discussion Questions 7 years, 10 months ago
@aratrea I pretty much second everything everyone else has said. Powerful Christian themes that aren’t cheesy. I also want to learn how to weave every thread of my story into the theme, because for the most part, the flow of my stories feel a bit jerky because not everything ends up being connected to the theme. (characters, villains, climax, etc)

@Daeus This is so exciting! You’ve been working on Edwin Brook for as long as I’ve been on KP, and now it’s almost finished! How long do you think it will be until you publish it?
