@Aratrea Okay. After being in another State for two days, away from internet, I’m back. The story I’ve chosen is Little Dorrit by Charles Dickens.
Theme: Wealth and Poverty
Focusing Question: Are riches required to be happy?
Message: Good friends and a content heart can bring joy in the poorest circumstances.
I just watched Video 4, but you’re…[Read more]

@Emma-Flournoy Hey, maybe if you’re a Dunadain, you mature faster! 😛
@Kate-Flournoy Ha! Yes, that entire spiel about, “You cannot be she, for she is far away. *sappy music* Far, far away from me,” was just cringe worthy. The thing about that triangle that bothered me most was that it totally undermined how incredible the Legolas Gimli…[Read more]

@Kate-Flournoy I was actually talking about the one between John Chivery, Arthur, and Amy. I kind of forgot the one between Pet and Arthur. 🙂 Probably because I didn’t like it that much either…

Has anyone ever attempted Charles Dickens’ Little Dorrit? That one had a great love triangle in in.

Romance these days, be it triangle or not, is very cheesy… there have been very few romances I’ve read where I was actually glad it was there. Author’s seem to lose sight of what love actually is, and they play it up to be some big emotions thing because the girl is so beautiful and when he’s with her, he feels this tightness in his throat and…[Read more]

@Aratrea Well, after three days of pondering, I’ve finally figured out the theme of my novel, which I’m currently editing. Here we go:
Theme: The intrinsic worth of humanity
Focusing Question: What gives a person value?
1. If they’re useful to society
2. If they have great social appeal (beautiful, smart, funny)
3. If they’re good
4. If they’re…[Read more] -
Ethryndal replied to the topic Another Book Cover! in the forum Art 7 years, 10 months ago
It was kind of an overlay of the characters, pasted over the top of the main ship in FTL travel. I’ve seen it implemented in other places, and I thought it would be a good style on the cover. They actually fade into the background a little, as if to say, “They’re not actually there…” Perhaps I need to accentuate that a little more.

“Can you tell that the character on the right is a girl”?
@leumeister I kind of had it backwards and thought the character on the left was a girl and the one on the right was a boy. Merp.
I think cover 2 has possibilities, though I think the title is slightly too big. It kind of looks like it’s falling off the page. And about the Cover 1,…[Read more]

@Daeus Well that’s good. I was pretty sure it wouldn’t, for me, anyway, since I’m a fast reader and got through LOTR in roughly two months. The Silmarillion’s kind of smaller.
