@princessfoo So, the simple outline of the plot is an island that my two main characters, Randella and Azura, are stranded on. This island has never been stepped foot on by a human, and it’s called ‘Athiktos.’ (Which is Greek for ‘untouched’) The island is inhabited by intelligent animals (this part I’m still figuring out. Some of it I make up as I go along,) whom live in groups of two or three different animals. The group that finds the girls stranded are tigers and wolves (*sigh* yet to figure out a name for the groups).
I got attached to the idea, and I feel like it’s been used multiple times, but I want to somehow change it up so it’s interesting. I was thinking of adding something mythical to the island, something different.
@epicaddie2 That’s actually a really cool idea. I don’t know about a full length novel, but maybe a novella or short story? Maybe you could write it about a tree living through a certain time period, and somehow share to the reader the knowledge about that time period.
You could write it like each chapter is a certain day (maybe like a diary, almost.) Or, possibly, have someone become almost like the tree’s friend and visit it each day, talk to it out of loneliness, but that person doesn’t realize the tree can hear them. And the tree wishes it could reply, but sadly it doesn’t, and just sorta develop the plot? *shrug*
Whoops… I tagged your name instead of your username – @belegteleri
@daeus @epicaddie2 @tatiana Thanks for the tips! The ‘show don’t tell’ is certainly a good thing to always keep in mind. 😀
Err – hmm, I’ve never read much historical FICTION (to be honest), but you could look up David McCullough. He’s got some great historical books. Also, off the topic of history/historical fiction, I just finished The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis and would definitely recommend that if you ever are in want of something to read!
@dragon-snapper *hands you cough medicine because no one else has*@Emily and @EpicAddie2 Thank you! I definitely will write it out again without the flashback. Also, Emily, I thought for some reason I could do the memory slightly like a narrator scene – but as I think about it that doesn’t make sense. *Shrug* Yes, 1st person is ‘I’ and 3rd person is ‘She’ 😀 (I think?)
@Emma-Flournoy Haha! I get the feeling that INFP’s are the writer types – you gotta be introverted to be a writer 😀 Also, thank you!
@Emily-D Hai! So, I think I started a year or so ago. *shrug* I don’t really remember exactly when 😀
@Shannon Hi, and thank you! I love to write (duh) draw, read – so much reading – and study, I also like to spend time with friends but also have my alone time.. (introvert xD)
@jane-maree Hello hello in return, *takes the pizza* and thank you! Also, yep – I’m an INFP. So we’re kinda close? 😀
@Northerner Thanks! I have been writing only about half a year or a year (I don’t really remember when I started). I really love C.S Lewis, and I must confess I really enjoy Rick Riordan’s work. I honestly don’t have a favourite book – I’ll read anything you give me.
Haha, I write in the plain ol’ American style, quite boring.
@SeekJustice Hi, and thanks! I’ve done some writing, and I am currently working on a serious plot-line. I really love to write fantasy and fiction. 😀
