@rochellaine, I’ve read them, and love them. I kinda claimed the family copy of book one for myself since I own the rest of the series. 🙂
I actually based this book idea on a mixture of those books and Ender’s Game. (just saying, I don’t really like the ender’s game book or movie but the movie provided some cool visual ideas).

@rochellaine, Its a sci-fi/dystopian story. The world has been at war for several decades. One of the groups goes around secretly testing kids and then kidnapping the smart ones at 9 to fight as their soldiers. At first the kids think it is a computer simulation until they realize that the bots they are controlling are actually killing. But if…[Read more]

@rochellaine Hello! I’m doing pretty well. My book is coming along, I may even write some today. (If I finish getting these wrinkles out of this outline.) 😛
@alia Oh, how fun! New book ideas can be intriguing, or distracting… ;P

At least we’ll never run out of books to read….
Of course I’ll warn you. What sort of queen would I be if I didn’t?
Gracious goodness. 😛
Goodnight 🙂

Well, I’ll have to put them on my list to read (as if that list wasn’t long enough already 😛 ).
Sounds interesting, I’ll have to look into that one as well!
Oh my word. Are there really people that…uneducated? Unfortunately, I can’t stop snickering about that now. And Australia’s something like 16 hours in front of you, so we’re…[Read more]

In no particular way, one of them is pretty old. But Josh decided he was terrified of them and couldn’t ride until they were all gone. Apparently, in his eyes they are monsters who might eat him.
I’d have to check, but I believe its one on Sir Francis Drake, but I could be wrong. We could have a few actually.
What’s Lydia…[Read more]

My littlest brother was just demonstrating his use of bicycle brakes and showing off. Of course, I pretended to be all excited about his remarkable abilities.
Me: Whoa, you can use your brakes, Josh!
Him: No, I was not using my brakes.
Me: Oh, did you stop using your strong imagination?
Him: No, I used my back brakes.
Me: That’s…[Read more]

Sorry, I just had to save my brother from the tyrannical rule of the Shetland ponies and then he fell off his bike and I had to deal with that as well 😀
I have heard of Henty. I’m pretty sure I have one of his books as well, but I haven’t read it. Oh, who’s your favourite actor?
😛 Love the Princess Bride quotes 😛 if it actually…[Read more]

Yep, its after Napoleon was exiled and Louis XVII (maybe? there’s so many Louises I get them mixed up) is on the throne. No, I’ve never heard of the Haitian revolution.
I don’t necessarily mind people getting married young, say if the girl was seventeen and the guy eighteen or nineteen, and I don’t necessarily have a problem with…[Read more]

You aren’t alone in thinking that 😀 The June Rebellion, which was what it was called, happened in 1832 and it was mostly led by students. See, after the French Revolution, the monarch eventually was restored to the throne and things got even worse from then on (for the poor at least. For everyone else, things were dandy) and there…[Read more]

The 1830s. 😛 My inner history nerd must correct you.
Very true, but our culture is hypocritical in the extreme. We still see prostitution as a bad thing in the present day, and a shameful thing, even if we don’t have any morals regarding pregnancy and children out of wedlock like we did back then.
I can see that Jonas, Quillon and…[Read more]

Actually, I’m surprised by the inconsistencies and problems you guys have pointed out to me, when it seems that you missed the two that have bothered me the most.
a). Jean leaves his daughter all alone in the trench in order to rescue Justice who he doesn’t even like.
b) Justice was originally seven years older than Chessy.
And…[Read more]

Oh yeah. That part I was really struggling with because I already consider it beyond my usual humour. That scene was meant to poke fun at poetic language and at obnoxious heroines who think they are too ‘smart’ and ‘deep’ compared to other girls. I felt I was making it too obvious.
Carefully explained and diagrammed? I’m not that…[Read more]

True.
It has to work with the story, okay? Eponine is fifteen/sixteen when she goes to the barricade, so there we go. 😛
Poor Kendall. No one cares about him.
I’ll try to fix it up. In another draft. Not now.

I truly think that Justice doesn’t care. Not necessarily that he doesn’t care about her, but that he doesn’t care she’s underaged. Revolutions aren’t usually made of people of military age after all, especially people’s revolutions and since most of them are students, even the people they’re riling up are going to be quite…[Read more]

Hmm I guess that makes sense. I’m calling it a parody because that’s the closest thing I can think of for now. I’m trying to strike a delicate balance between drama and comedy. In some ways being over the top is good but I’m also deconstructing some of the cliches and sometimes that calls for being more subdued and…[Read more]
