@alia @jenwriter17 Hey, hey! Who’s talking about me staying up late??
😛 I’m here for a little bit, Alia, if you’re still here.

@alia Cool! You have to save the collage to your computer as a JPEG or whatever file it saves as, and then you click the little landscape icon at the far right of the “Visual” panel here on the forum. That’ll open up a little lightbox, and you click on the “search” icon which will open up your documents so you can select the picture from your c…[Read more]

@alia You haven’t read the Viking Quest series??!! That may be the best his-fic series for teens ever written!!!
😛 Well, anyway, I like it a lot. Love it a lot. Adore it from the depths of my heart and my imagination. Something like that.
In other words, yes. You should look into them. 😉

@catwing That’s something I’m not very good at myself, since I had several people tell me one of the guys in my last book had a really quick change of opinion which should have been explained better. That was two years ago, though, and I think I’ve gotten better, but I can’t tell yet since I haven’t finished a book yet.
However, I would assume…[Read more]

@alia Yeah, I never had any trouble seeing them grow up. It was only three years, and that’s not as much as Bree, Devin and Mikkel grow up in Lois Walfrid Johnson’s Viking Quest series (ever read those?) which is also only five books long. I understand that it wouldn’t be great if you can’t see them as older than 14. We have another series wh…[Read more]

@alia Well, they were written in the nineties, right? So it’s set forty years in the future, from when he predicted the stuff. It’s a lot closer now, and that’s why I’m impressed with how well he depicted what the future would be like. And we might actually have our first female president around 2040. 😉

@alia Okay, so the Mars Diaries are basically the exact same as the Robot Wars, but with different names. You know that, right? 😉 There are ten Mars Diaries, and the Robot Wars combines two in each book. They were published as ten books first, then I guess people forgot about them and they decided to republish them and combine them so there wo…[Read more]

@alia Something I find interesting about them is that the author was basically spot on with what technology we’d have by 2040. They’re making cars that can drive themselves with GPS; tracker chips are in wide use already; you can control robots with your brain. It’s all getting real. Have you noticed that?
I was at a homeschool conference in…[Read more]

@alia Oh, I absolutely love the Mars Diaries/Robot Wars by Sigmund Brouwer! Have you ever read them? They have basically the exact same premise. If you haven’t read them, you definitely should!!

@seekjustice The long list of books to read… *shakes head* I know exactly what you mean.
Yes, so if something happens, you should have plenty of time to warn us. Can I trust you to do so? 😛
(There are definitely people that uneducated. I’ve seen lots of similarly ridiculous quotes. 😛 )
I’m going to say goodnight now. Talk to you later!

@seekjustice Ah, I see. 🙂 Irrational fears always seem to be the worst.
It’s been a while since I read most of Henty’s books (we have the full collection, or possibly minus one or two) and I don’t remember that one well. I think it wasn’t one of my favorites. I have three favorites, and one of those three was the one on the French Re…[Read more]

@seekjustice “tyrannical rule of the Shetland ponies?” Haha! Sounds intriguing. In what manner, exactly, are ponies tyrannical?
Which book do you have? Oh, well, the one I was referring to is Dale Robertson. He’s not far above a lot of other favorite actors I have, but he’s the one I’ve “picked” to be at the top of the list right now. 😛 …[Read more]

@seekjustice I was just reading where Chessy disapproves of Justice’s methods of trickery and bribery, but for some reason doesn’t disapprove of his plan to kill people… 😛 Yeah, I know that’s not really what’s going on, but it just reminded me of this:

@seekjustice The Haitian revolution is very horrible and very interesting. It has many similarities to the French revolution. I first heard about it in a G.A.Henty book. (Have you heard of Henty? He’s extremely popular as a historical author among U.S. homeschoolers) I later watched a movie about it, and absolutely loved it. (It didn’t hurt…[Read more]

@seekjustice Well, since I’ve never read Les Mis fully, I guess I didn’t notice the time period much. I probably would be able to tell if I read it in-depth, since, as you say of yourself, I am also a history nerd. 😛 Okay, so this is after Napoleon, right? I actually don’t know much about Napoleon, either, except as he has to do with the Ha…[Read more]
