@sam-kowal Could you point out a place where they aren’t relevant? I can’t find any myself, but that could be because I wrote it. 🙂

@seekjustice “Only One main character dies!” I might be able to handle that. At the end of Stars Fill Infinity I totally agreed with Chess that I couldn’t take it anymore! 🙂 By the time you finish the sequel I will probably have healed from the trauma of watching all those characters die.
But seriously, though I usually do feel like that…[Read more]

@jenwriter17 Please do! I’m glad you like it! And I will need a lot more advice before I can make this story as clean and smooth as it should be.
Here is the link again, in case it’s hard to find in all the posts going back and forth here.

@sam-kowal Thanks for your comments.
Are his recollections about his street life irrelevant to what is happening? I wanted to have them in there so you get a little bit of his background, and he uses them to explain why he acts certain ways.
@waterlily I actually agree. 🙂 I never use this type of voice, which is why I posted it here, be…[Read more]

@skredder I told you before that I thought the idea was a good one. 🙂 The opening you posted sounds great, except for the fact that in the very first couple of sentences I had to read them several times before I figured out who was talking. I thought the little six-year-old girl was the one who had been gone, which obviously wouldn’t make s…[Read more]

@supermonkey42 That’s a cool book. How far are you in it? (I’ve never actually read it, but I know the story pretty well.)

@dekreel I think that’s a great idea! I don’t read nearly enough either.
I’ve never read Richard III. The only thing I know from that is “My kingdom for a horse!” (At least, I think it’s from that one.) I’ve read a lot of other Shakespeare, though. Have you read any of his other plays?

Okay, here is a somewhat updated version of my story with another bit as long as the first tacked on at the end. The second half is a little more story and less ramble. I tried to fix a couple of parts some of you mentioned, such as more description, and a little bit of dialogue, and I’d like to know how you think this new version turned out. A…[Read more]

@dekreel Well, it’s not really an actual game. I was joking when I asked if you could play it. 🙂 But some fans play it. Here is the Wikipedia article about it.
My favorite TOS episode…um…I can’t really pick one. I do love how cute Kirk is in the end of The Trouble with Tribbles. He just looks so exhausted he doesn’t even put up a fight…[Read more]

@dekreel In explanation: Fizbin is the crazy card game Kirk made up to distract the guards when he and Spock were locked up in A Piece of the Action. He distracted them with making up confusing rules and then knocked the cards off the table so that the guard would pick them up. That way he could knock the guard over the head and they could get a…[Read more]

@dekreel Thanks millions! I actually am planning to have the girl an important figure in the story. I just haven’t gotten that far yet. Am I reading the comments right when I think you said in that case to leave in the dialogue?

@itisastarrynight That was actually why I posted this – because I’m not used to writing this style. 🙂 So I didn’t know how it would work out.
The Huckleberry Finn comment was not really about setting or actual story. I didn’t originally intend for it to have anything to do with Huckleberry Finn. I just wrote this as it came to me at first, wh…[Read more]

@dekreel Okay, here is the google document. You should be able to comment on it.
@sam-kowal I’m glad you like him! If you would like to point out the parts that seem too rambling to make sense, you can comment on the google document. I would like to figure out how to do that without messing up his speech, because that’s who he is. :…[Read more]

I just tried a new style of writing, and though it was really fun to do, I don’t know if it’s worth continuing like this. I’ll probably finish the story anyway, but I might change the style. Please tell me what you all think. It’s kind of based on Huckleberry Finn, though I didn’t begin it with that in mind.

@seekjustice I love reading a Scottish accent! 🙂
You said your sequel will be based on A Tale of Two Cities? Doesn’t everyone die in the end of that one, too?

@seekjustice You mentioned Scriptures explaining both sides of the question. My favorite verse dealing with the subject is something I read when I was reading about the Scottish Covenanters. (Have you heard of them? They were amazing!) Someone asked a Covenanter how he could line up violence with Scripture, and he used the verse in Romans 12…[Read more]

@seekjustice I actually agree with basically everything you said. I know your book is based on the French Revolution/Rebellion and I agree that as such they should not have succeeded in what they were doing. Apparently I didn’t make that part of my review very clear. 🙂 What I was trying to say was that I would have liked a little more ex…[Read more]

@dekreel Okaaay. Fine. 🙂
Well, Patty is touring Europe with her parents and they let her stay with a friend she made called Lady Catherine something-or-other. She has a real title. She is something like thirty, a widow. Patty is seventeen, and hasn’t made her debut yet, so she is considered a little girl. However, when her parents send…[Read more]
