First things that come to mind:
If a conversation is only between two characters, you don’t have to have a tagline every time. For example:
“I love this soup,” said Bill.
“Thanks,” Karen replied. “It was my mother’s recipe.”
“Did you have this a lot growing up?”
“Yes, we did.”
Since it’s only the two characters, you can easily follow the…[Read more] -

@josiahdeboer , you’re a Wise Jester like the one in Ivanhoe. You play the fool, but you’re not the one being played. (Ivanhoe is a great book by the way.) 🙂

I get it. So the more I post, the more important I become as a character? Hmm …is there any way to downgrade? I’d like to be “Nameless Background Character.” 😉 They don’t have to do anything but exist. No rescuing or sitting in the saddle all day. Sounds nice to me.

What? I’m a knight in shining armor too? How did that happen? Ugh, I just knew that I was gonna get stuck with lousy hero work … 😉 What’s with the titles anyway? Is there any system to them, or are they random? @aratrea They’re kinda cool …

Glad to join the party! I wouldn’t miss this for the world. (I heard there was chocolate cake, @aratrea . I hope you deliver.) 😉 The new site looks great, by the way.
So you’re a knight in shining armor, @aratrea ? Cool. I didn’t know that. That’s great because I actually have a few questions I’ve been meaning to ask a knight. (For novel…[Read more]

I’m actually making a blog too, @kate-flournoy , mainly to give me practice in writing and sharing my work regularly. My blog is mostly for non-fiction though, articles and snippets of stuff, but I also hope to use it to build my platform. (I’m not overly concerned with that at this point though. I’m just focused on developing my writing…[Read more]

Hey, @kate-flournoy ! It’s been a while. 🙂
I was just rereading a book (I highly recommend, especially for new or struggling writers) called “Writer…Uninterrupted,” and it asked that I make a list of people who were on my writing “team,” like “List the one teammate you would call when you are in trouble on your quest.” I realized that I…[Read more]

Louise Fowler replied to the topic What Is Your Favourite Tool To Use As A Writer? in the forum General Writing Discussions 7 years, 2 months ago
@emily-d Let’s see. fantasynamegnerators.com is one of my favourite resources. I noticed a few people said their brain, and I agree, but I’m also going to add my friends’ brains. 😛 Nothing helps me more than brainstorming and picking the brain of my alpha-alpha-reader. 😀

@seekjustice Wow, sounds like a great story! While I’m not interested in alpha-reading (sorry!) having already got a few other friends’ works I already alpha/beta-read for, I just wanted to let you know that I am most definitely interested in reading it. You have what sounds like a compelling protagonist, a complex villain, and a great plot. 🙂 I…[Read more]

Thanks for your encouragement, @bethanysinkyroses ! 🙂 I haven’t tried the Mentorship space yet. I’m thinking about it, though. To be perfectly honest, two things, in particular, have made me hesitate from trying it.
One, is the possibility, especially since I’m one of the older writers in the group, that someone will offer to be my mentor…[Read more]
