Hey, @daeus , we can write together sometime if you want. I don’t get up early, and I don’t (unless I am swamped with inspiration) write for more than 30 minutes to two hours at a time. 😉

This poem is cute and kinda funny, @writefury ! I really enjoyed reading it. I liked the short, unpunctuated lines. It made the poem feel swift like a good stiff breeze, and made me feel like “the little sailboat” couldn’t be down for long. It reminds me of the adventures of Hitty. By the end of it I was ready to champion the cause of “the…[Read more]

I don’t like unrealistic emotion either, @hope , especially when it feels ill-timed or misplaced. Sometimes emotion feels ill-timed when it smacks you in the face in the very beginning of a book. I’m like, “Wait a second- I don’t know if I care yet! I don’t even know these people!”

You’re welcome, @sarah-h ! 🙂
That makes sense, @hannah-krynicki . Bossy bacon! 😉
I wasn’t confused by that, @daeus . It seemed to me (all things considered 😉 ) that things were going rather well, but if you thought it was contradicting itself then perhaps it was meant as hyperbole?
I don’t know, @sarah-h . Maybe you could tell the story…[Read more]

I’m here at last! Now to find something that hasn’t already been said…
I was thinking that Orwell’s writing style makes the allegory particularly easy to see. Maybe it’s because the story isn’t told from a specific animal’s perspective, so you get the overall big picture. Is there another style that could work equally well for something like…[Read more] -

Hey guys,
So I finally stopped procrastinating and began reading the book!
I do like how (I think @hope mentioned this?) the story is more told rather than shown. While I enjoy both styles when done well, this makes for a more comfy, relaxed read, which was just what I was in the mood for.
First of all, I’m glad Orwell didn’t make the…[Read more]

Say, whatever you do, guys, please don’t ever get caught in the 3 letter name trap with your characters like the new Star Wars movie did. (It has a name, but I refuse to use it until I have to;) It drives me absolutely bananas!
Seriously, Rey, Maz, BB8, Ben, Hux, Poe, Ren, Han, (not that I’m complaining about his name, but I mentioned it just…[Read more]

Hey guys,
I came across this while I was going through some of my old writings. At the time I wrote it I didn’t think it was a poem, but now I’m not so sure. What do y’all think? (Warning: Unedited version. Punctuation is basically nil;)
Thank you Lord for the bad days

When I feel trapped and…[Read more] - Load More
