It had been less than an hour. After a few moments, she stirred. “I saw a bit.”

She got up and, without waiting for him to ask for more, went to the same wall from before. She climbed it again, much slower. The wind blew into her face as her head rose over the top, stinging her eyes and fluffing her short, downy hair.

    This time…[Read more]

“I kinda want to scream when I think about all that.” Lucy took a breath of the jacket, which still smelled good, although she didn’t know why. “I’ve got to… wait it out.”

It seemed like a good time to rest anyway. She didn’t need to sleep, but it couldn’t hurt to lay still.

She thought for a while. “Um… It’s a big old building and courtyard by the depot. It’s got, er, lots of people. We’re the first stop along the grain route.”

When the young man looked at her, Lucy suddenly didn’t feel like talking about it. She took the jacket and lay over it on the stone, hiding her face.

Sorry, I had to do a bit of cleaning in the kitchen

Fun fact, I have a birthmark on my right hand that usually gets dark when my hands are cold or I’m irritated.

That’s cool. Do you think it does that because your circulation changes?

    Lucille

She nodded and took the last fruit. The smells were unfamiliar, and they set her on edge, but l…[Read more]

“That’s stupid. Birthmarks come from blood vessels or skin pigment. Even I know that, and I’m ten.”

  • @rae

    Lucille

Lucy frowned at being called illogical but didn’t say anything. “Why would I throw stones at you because of birthmarks?”

  • @rae

    Got it

    Lucille

Lucy traced over them. They felt rougher than they looked, somewhat like her father’s. She bent his hands into fists and out again, folded them together, and briefly pretended his fingers were keys and she was playing the piano.

It was the kind of game that made no sense but relaxed her. She did it for a little while until…[Read more]

“My parents.” Lucy glanced at different sights in front of them, not letting her eyes stay in one place for long. For a long time, her eyelids flickered and she said nothing. She didn’t look at the Protector but she reached out again. “May I look at your hands?”

We’re magically cooperating here, passing the baton back and forth

Except when I’m stuck for no reason and leave you hanging for twelve hours. XD

    That’s rping for ya

He rarely spills out his thoughts though, so this is nice.

Yeah I think it’s nice. As someone with confusing thoughts, I think his thoughts make sense. It’s characterization too.

“I-I’m bothered. I don’t like screaming and crying in front of people, s’all. I’m ugly when I cry.” Lucy stopped smiling and swung back to the top of the…[Read more]

Lucy looked from the Protector to the fruit and back again. She shrugged and slowly smiled, the first time that day.

  • @rae

    You’re good!

    Lucille

“Right ‘ere!” Lucy dangled upside down from a wall. She shut the photo album and, after realizing it wouldn’t stay in her pocket, dropped it on the ground below. “How’d your sleep-in shift fare you?”

A new part of his character design. I decided that I’d lean into his artificial voicebox a little more, so that’s what happened. I tried to make them look like artificial, metal muscles in the neck, not sure if I succeeded at all.

Ohhh makes sense! Yeah that’s exactly what it looks like.

It was easier to reach the trees from the wall. Lucy hiked up her trousers and placed a foot on a protruding root. She swiftly climbed up the wall and crouched on the top. The mist fell away, although the sky remained a bright, sharp gray. The sun, a blurred disk, lay on the horizon. Walls and rolls of twisted plant life sprawled…[Read more]

Aw. Dude, you’re very kind but you need a long nap.

Whatever you want to do from here is fine with me. We probably should have Lucy do some stuff from here, then skip to whenever Gabriel wakes up, however long or short that is. Idk…

aw man that sucks! That’s actually so similar to a game I’m playing called Genshin impact. It’s a gacha game, so you use in game currency to ‘wish’ (Otherwise known as gambling lol) on banners that have chances of giving in game characters.  You can be F2p like me and still get through the game but getting the in game currency takes a lot…[Read more]

“We should sit.” Lucy would feel better if he didn’t accidentally fall on her. She caught a glimpse of what was ahead and walked faster.

The path widened and turned into something else entirely. The labyrinth cleared around a circular crater in the earth, with rings of stone as steps or seats. It was an empty amphitheater. The s…[Read more]

    Good

    Lucille

Lucy had seen a dead body before. She almost spoke up to that effect, but found that her teeth were chattering.  “I – hm. That is probably correct.”

She awkwardly shuffled around to face away, covered her eyes with one hand, and took the Protector’s hand with the other.
